Today I was range testing my new DX 7 with an ar 6100 receiver. My ar 6100 cut out after about 50 feet, and lost it's signal, but when I have the antenna cocked at a 90 degree angle I can get 200 feet away and it works. The manual says that I should be able to get 90 feet away.

Is this normal???

How far should I get with my ar 6100???

What receiver do you guys recommend for the t-rex 450???

I use the 6200, not 1 problem so far with it and numerous flights.

Are you saying the lower range was with the antenna pointing straight out from the transmitter and better range was with the ant folded up 90 degrees ?

If so this is about right as they tell you to keep the ant folded because 2.4 waves travel from the ant at pretty much right angles , not so much from the tip .

Same is true for all radios, the tip of the antenna is a dead zone, the signal radiates from (and is received by) the side of the antenna. Never ever point the antenna straight at the model (for 35MHz, 36MHz, 40MHz, 72MHz, 2.4GHz or any other frequency).
