Ok...5 flights and everything is fine, running like a top.

The 2.4 and DX7 is new to me. Radio and RX were synched when i got it. Was flying it last night and all was well. This morning at the field I put the thing on the trunk of my car, turned the radio on, plugged in the battery, it ran through the beeps, all is fine for 5-10 seconds, went to put the canopy on and the thing went full throttle

Besides hitting my arm, roto-tilling the side of my car, having to change my pants then unplugging the battery in all another 5 seconds, I really would like to know what the hell happened! No idle up, no anything. Dont know?

We unplugged the motor and plugged the battery back in. The servo's were 'chatty' (JR DS 285's). They were in fact like that before but didnt think anything of it. My buddy Wayne had parts with him and we put the thing back together. Since 2 servos were toast he gave me 2 HS 56's.

After synching the radio just to be sure, no chatty servos and it flew as normal. Long story short, anyone have a clue as to what the hell may have caused that? It is going to drive me nuts and i dont like the fact of not trusting somthing.

PS

No, I do not typically plug the thing in while up on the trunk of my car.

I'm afraid i don't have an answer also :dontknow

But regarding the spool up...did you set the "fail-safe" ? In case of bad signal it should go to the pre-setting you programmed for it. Be sure you have 0 throttle there.
Maybe there was some trouble with the bec or the connector to your lipo. I noticed that this is rather critical for the spektrum receivers. Also what rx do you have? AR6100?

And what is "chatty"? Is it a buzzzing sound, or is it really movement of the servo's?

I'm with Maurice, my guess is that you did not set the failsafe to cut the throttle so it still had the mid-stick factory default. Something caused it to go into failsafe and it was all downhill from there. Glad you weren't hurt seriously.

Other things to consider:

* Was it in ThrottleHold ? If not, why not ? I recommend never taking it out of throttle hold until actually about to fly.

* Was the flight mode switch in Normal mode or IdleUp (I think you indicated above that it was in Normal) ?

* Could you (or anyone/anything) have bumped the throttle while you were reaching to put the canopy on ?

Thanks guys for the reply.

Maurice... Yes the 6100 rx. I also do not have the failsafe programmed :arggg:

KG...Low and behold I did not have the throttle hold on which I almost always do. Why I didnt? Not sure...a brain fart.
I always go through the 'radio check' before anything and all switches, throttle, idle up etc. were where they were supposed to be.

So, looks like I ran before I walked with the radio and need to setup the failsafe! Still have no idea what happened...

Thanks a ton guys....

Hey,

Just a thought but most if not all ESC's will not initialise until they see a low stick position and so even if you pkugged the main battery in with the throttle stick at full power the motor should not have started. A clue to not all being well is the beeps, if the throttle stick is at anything other than low stick position the ESC will not emit it's normal beep routine to signal all is ok.

The throttle hold trick is to eliminate accidental movement of the throttle stick having any effect, but that is still not fool proof.

I dont have any experience with the Spektrum stuff but have read a lot about it, could you have accidentally hit the bind button on the back of the Tx? That combined with the failsafe not being set then sent the model to full power perhaps, as I am lead to believe that is how you test the failsafe settings.

Coolice...

The beep routine was fine and all seemed normal. No explanation so far. Oh well, all back together and flying fine again.

Thanks for the reply's everyone!

there has been a few times before i got my dx6 that ive turned the radio on, and plugged the pack in while it was sitting on the wing to my mustang. 5 or so seconds later it like glitched and went full throttle. i dont know if that could be the reason cuz i havent plugged every thing in on my car since i got my dx6
