I recently crashed my hurricane and pulled the balls out of the center holes on the seesaw. I have ordered a new one but was curious, What will happen if I put the links in the outer or inner holes??? :?: :?: :)

You will increase "hiller" control. Believe it or not this will increase stability not make it faster! Same as on the Trex600 moving the seesaw mixer arm out makes the heli more stable as it is increasing hiller. Decreasing hiller makes the head quicker with the loss of stability....
Read this last post on this thread I did for the 600 explaining why:

Thanks Finless,
As always you're a great resource :noteworthy

I used 2mm machine cap screws that were 6-8mm long and sent them into the enlarged hole created by ripping the self tappers out.
Seems to be working fine.no loc tite
would be good if Gaui came out with longer self tapper for when this happens.
They don't pop out when I crash now.....That might not be such a good thing!!!!

Total newb here Bob could you please explain what effect " hiller " has

What a timely feed.
I just stripped the center screw from the Seesaw yesterday and was going to use the outer screw hole. I was hoping for little effect.
Now I know. Thanks
Also the link you left seems dead. Could you explain it again?

Have we decided about the effect of the different hole positions on the washout, seesaw, and mixing arms? I stripped/ripped out all of these this weekend and could re-use these parts if I move the balls to the other holes. I just need to know what is going to happen to my head.
THanks,

Or you could pick up a metal one and forget it.

I got the Gaui with the CNC head so this was the first part I replaced. Seemed kinda lame to use a plastic one in the CNC head.

ok so moving the links out to the outside holes on the seesaw increases hiller control hence increasing stability. that's great, because my 550 is more squirrely then my 450, even with -25% expo dialed in. if i move the links to the outer holes, what other adjustments will i have to make in order to "true" my head? is it as simple as just moving the links, or will i need to re-adjust everything else?

OK, so outside holes on seesaw=stability? RIght?
What about the mixing arms and washout? There are 2 holes on each of these.

I moved my links to the outer holes on the seesaw and recheck all my settings and there was no adjustment needed to anything. As far as the mixing arms I am not sure,

have a read of the avant adjustable head setup PDF that can be downloaded here>> http://www.carbonxtreme.com/Products/Avant/manual/Programable_Head_Quick_Start_Manual.pdf the gaui head isn't as adjustable as this but it does let you know which changes do what :)

that is a great read, very informative. gaui should have sent something like that with the xes kits. so last night i moved my links out on the seesaw, and dialed out the expo that was taming it previous. there are also some options for link placement on the pitch link levers and washout arms. likely i'll fly it with just the seesaw change at first, to see how that works. i wonder if only changing the seesaw and not the others will cause interactions? like, are these changes supposed to be made all together?

Finless and Phil got me thinking about how programmable this head is. The Avant manual is a great read.
Any way I used the Dragonus "Programmable" head settings and set it for Beginner and I like that setting much better than the Gaui setting. Feel really comfortable with the Hurricane now.
Just need to get the Eye/Brain/Hand thing working.:) Dumb thumbed it in at 90 degrees during low level orientation hover training.

Any chance of a piccie of the changes made - or a more detailed description of your settings please.

I set mine for Beginner. I'm not sure that this is what Gaui intended but it worked for me. Your mileage may vary.
direct from a Dragonus advert:
3D Flying (Advanced) A2 + B2 + C2
(highest pitch changes and faster cyclic reponses)
F3C Flying A2 + B2 + C1
(Milder pitch reponses)
Normal Hovering (Beginners) A1 + B1 + C1
(smallers pitch changes and save servo energy)

on my picture you can see the setup I made for my hurricane. This is for the CNC head.

OK, now I understand everything EXCEPT.........the two holes on the washout arm.........Neither the Avant pdf nor the dragonus picture show how to tune the washout arm.....Any clues????
Thanks,

Thanks,
Move the rod to the OUTER hole, gives you faster response, less stability.

Thanks,
the outer hole on the washout arm gives more flybar response :)

correct the outer hole on the washout arms will be less stable but more responsive, just the opposite on the seesaw. outer hole on the seesaw will give you a more stable flight, less responsive.
