Anyone flying on 550mm+ blade. Please share your experience.
As the main gear problem is solved with the 3rd generation "OK" gear, it is tempting to put on 550mm , especially carbon blade.
I think the tail locking can be perfect with the Align Trex 600 tail rotor grip as well. The clearance from rotor wash is a concern.
My current concern is the one way bearing metal gear (21T), as I kill 2 (cracked) already.

i am running 550mm tt woodies and it flys great. took out all of the tail heaviness. I don't do crazy 3d or anything but the motor is a bit hotter at the end of a flight. cut time by right under a minute. I am using tp lites-2100mah. stock motor for this one. I plan to run 550mm cf blades on my rocket- I have a second hurry on the bench being set up for 600l motor and 2900 hs if all goes as planned! my money needs to catch up with my desire to finish it.

Just tried a 550mm fiber glass cheap blade. Heavier but autorotation much easier. I have to dial down 10% throttle to keep HS at 2000 without overheating the BL and A123. And it is a bit risky at the beginning as the main rotor vibrate more on spooling and I am using plastic main grip.
All movement are more solid because of the larger rotor. More stable in side wind. Cycli is slower because of lower HS and greater inertia. Climb rate is faster.
THe downside is my Align ESC is not happy with the low throttle 60% governor and keep bogging at the 0 pitch. THis drives me mad and I will use my 515mm carbon instead.
I am not sure anyone else experience such phenomenon on low throttle governor.

TUNGYM, could you just change pinion to allow you to go back up to your throttle normal settings? Then you can fly 550 and your ESC will be happy.
