I'm new to heli's and this is my first post. My AXE CP is about a month old and I've managed to hover through a full battery at chest height but something new has started to happen which puzzles me. The heli will randomly jump up a couple of inches for no reason that I can see. Can anyone offer thoughts on why this might happen? I've been guessing a possible power surge from the battery or FM interference? Could the motor cause such a problem? My setup is 100% stock. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :dontknow

Check your head o-rings. The symptom that you're describing is actually the tell-tale sign that I use to determine when it's time to change them. They may not actually be torn, but I've found that they go soft pretty quickly. The easiest way to check this is to just grab one blade grip in each hand, and wiggle the grips and feathering shaft in the shoulder block radially to the main shaft. If it feels mushy and moves more than just a couple degrees, the o-rings are due to be replaced.

The other thing to check for is excessive play in the flybar hoops and pitch links. Other than that, it's possible that the slide block is hitching up on the shoulder block, and may be causing a "jump". Just be sure that there's no play or binding anywhere in the head and swashplate, and that your o-rings are okay.

This should clear your problem up, but if it doesn't, let me know. We'll examine some other things that might be causing it.

I never thought about the o-rings since they look fine. I do not see much bobbling after switching to the 9C radio probably due to the head speed. If it gets worst i'll change the orings out. Thanks,

I just remembered that the "jump" that you're seeing may also be caused by a binding blade grip. Make sure that your grip bearings are good, and that your feathering shaft is straight. Those o-rings are a little tricky... all of mine that I found to be bad looked fine. But when compared to a fresh o-ring, is was obviously stretched out and a bit softer than the fresh one.

Good luck!
