I don't have any shakes at all. I don't think the crank mod is necessary, even not adviced for most.

There are so many things that can cause vibration, check those before you do something invasive to the engine.

Your Are right I would certainly try everything else before the crank mod really should be your last thing you do

I do have the shakes, but I also run a Hyper in my EVO 50 which has no shake or vibe and many at my field run hypers in their Raptors and again no shakes or vibes.

So please don't think the OS engine is the cause of this problem, go through everything before you even consider engine mods.

In regards to the crank mod, is it correct to assume that the main purpose of this mod is to allow more lubrication for the main bearing? I have read quite a few disparaging reports about main bearing failures on the O.S. .50. I suppose I could bring this crank to a machine shop and they could do this mod quite easily.

Thanks again for your advice.

Silly question, but I take it your not using Align CF Blades?

My understanding is that the crank mod is to improve lubrication to the rear bearing as there are occasional runs of failure ? lack of lube, at that site,

I think they have added it to stop the bearing failures but in doing so have put the crank out of balance in relation to the rod/piston

So this mod will really "unbalance" the motor?! I guess there is a lot of material taken away (looking at the picture), but I assumed the crank was re-balanced. As mentioned, I'm a NEWB at all of this, but it seems to me if this mod did unbalance the motor, the benefit of added bearing lubrication is far outshadowed by vibration...

Forgot to finish this thread off (sorry)
After doing all the mods with the crank and everything else it turned out to be a duff Receiver (DOH)
Anyway put in a new PCM 9 channel and have put several gallons through her with not the slightest hiccup.
Just goes to show you that this hobby is great, I enjoyed the troubleshooting exercise
Thanks to all
