Set up everything on my heli all ok except for the tail hunting a bit, sorted this out only thing is now the heli shakes every second or so for about a second
Could this be the tail belt being to tight
Any help would be great
It's a 401 by the way and 9254 servo with the delay set at 0% and the limit at about 80

That's a first step. Loosen the belt a little and see if it goes away. If not, retighten and try something else.

Limit at 80 is too low. Shorten the servo arm one hole and raise the limit for starters.
Also you do have 100/100 set for the rudder atvs?

Yep they are set to 100 both ways
Just 1 thing when yo mean 80 is to low and raise the limits do you mean nearer 90 or nearer to 70 :?:

I'm speaking of the limit pot on the gyro. It should be near or slightly over 100.

Your shaking could be many things - check main blade balance, paddle balance, blade tracking, free and easy tail rotor pushrod function, smooth and free tail slider function (maybe polish the tail spindle) check free linkages in slider and tail rotor grips and lastly tail rotor balance. Have you crashed this machine ?

Can't try anything at the moment because the heavens have opened up here for the last couple of days :(
Then I am going to Tunisia Saturday :glasses2:
So wont be able to check anything for a couple of weeks but will report back when I have tried all the suggestions.
Thanks

Sorry I have not got back to you sooner but you know what its like getting back from hols !!!
Done all the things suggested i:e balance blades and paddles etc and now she is sorted no shakes and got the gain on my 6EXH(yes I know) down to 48%
so went up the common this sunday to try a bit a flying, but when i tried a right bank, (not every right bank just maybe 1 in 4)the bird just shook violently for a split second (brown stain on underpants time) not sure what the problem is so might have to strip down the tail unit to find out what the problem might be (could be static not sure), any suggestion would be great but she's grounded until i find the problem, but apart from that she aint a "30 raptor"

I bet your headspeed is too high, sounds like what mine was doing too at the beginning. Adjust it in your throttle curve.

On normal Throttle it's 0-40-60-80-100
On Idle up Throttle it's 100-82-65-82-100
Preety much what it says in the book
Settings on the motor are :-
Screw turned out 1 1/4 plus 3 clicks
Screw set at just about 3 o'clock
Still gonna look at the tail mechanism though

know anybody with an optical tachometer? My headspeed was running around 2200-2300 when mine had the "shakes" like you're describing. I slowed it down to around 1900 and it purrs like a kitten. I noticed it had the shakes especially when I did things to make the headspeed higher, like coming down from a turning bank etc.

HAve you checked out whether the servo arms could be fouling the canopy ?

Good call John didn't think of that will check in the morning' 1 thing I did notice was the rod from the tail to the frame was not quite straight so got this the best as I could also put on a smaller arm on the servo and got the limit up to 120
Will report back

Just Checked the servo arms on the canopy and they are missing it by some way
Can't fly know till Sunday morn so will post back if it has got better with a slower head speed and adjustment on the gyro/servo arm

Right then
Just been up the common where I fly
Had the head speed down and up both gave me a violent shake when banking to the right, it even has a shudder in forward flight (grrr)
What i did notice is when the bird is just at ildle I spotted the 401 red light just flicker very slightly and only every few seconds also I felt the 401 and it had a very high pitched vibration as did the tail boom, linkage rods and frame ????
Spoke to my mate who had a similar problem and told me that it could be the fan and the rod in the hyper (there is a post on the other site) so I am going to give the engine to him to sort this problem out because it is really P****ing me of BIG time

We stripped the engine and fan down and found the fan and fan hub were miles out of balance as was the clutch (but not as much) so have ordered an Align fan and hub from Midland helis which should be here Saturday so hopefully all should be well for flying on Sunday will report back

Sorted I Think !!!
Put the engine back in with the "crank mod" also the new Align Fan and hub (Shame you can't see it) also loosened all the frame screws then tightened them with the main shaft in also put on a new gyro pad for the 401 (you never know)
Went up the common where I fly but still had the slightest vibe in the frame but no where near as much as before. Had to mess with the settings a bit on the carb but flew her for a bit and was a bit nervous(just waiting for the mad wobble) but after a few circuits no mad wobble well pleased so after about 2 tanks I decided to fly her like she was stolen and OH MY GOD!!!!! my raptor 30 could never do that.
So the moral of the story is
1.Check your frames are Straight
2.Consider having the crank mod
3.Put on an Align fan and hub
4.Check you Gyro Pad
but above all, stick with it because it is definately worth it (a few times I considered selling her for a raptor titan, glad I didn't).
Thanks to all Who Helped especially Steve at our club for the Mod on the engine

Well I will be doing all you suggest as I now have a shake in idle up, but not in normal throttle, my pipe deflector is shaking like its going to drop off and the tail and nose shake in backwards flight.
I have order metal fan and new hub so when they all get here I will then level up the frames etc, I have also got a Revlock10 to fit, so after all this I hope its good to fly.

Can someone point me in the right direction for the "crank mod?" I did a search, but came up empty. I'm in the midst of finishing up the research on a probable 600N purchase (my first glow heli) and the O.S. Hyper is on the top of my list because of price, availability and popularity w/ this model.
Thanks!

The crank mod is where you grind of the unbalanced part of the crank, it's a bit hard to explain but easier to show in a picture so have done just that. Int the first picture you see where you have to grind off then in picture 2 you can see what it's like after it has been ground Be warned this will invalidate your warranty on your Hyper so be warned and only do it if you are happy to strip down and grind your motor, I wasn't happy to do this but was lucky to have someone in the club who's good on this type of thing.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the information and the pics! Wow, that does look like a lot of work. Hopefully I can find someone that I can pay to do it...or else I guess I can buy a YS...
Thanks Again!
