receiver xtal question

I just bought a Futaba 146iP reciever and it uses the short crystal. What is the difference between the short crystal and a regular crystal(other than length)? Will a regular crystal work in it? I also read that a dual conversion crystal will not work in this receiver.

Most of the long crystals are dual conversion (red tagged)

Use the appropriate crystal which in your case is a single conversion FM short.

What happens if I use a standard long xtal(non dual conversion)? Won't work?
I have a crystal that is long, but not red tagged (black tag).

Try it and see but I dont use anything but the designated crystals, its usually cheaper to spend 10 bucks on the right crystal than it is to fix a crash.
