I noticed that the standoffs that hold the canopy on are too short when using the fiberglass canopy. It causes the ears of the canopy to be pulled in too far and they start to crack. The ears on mine were creased out of the box new, now they are developing a crack where the creases were.

Has anyone used a longer standoffs ? If so, where did you find them at ? I suspect a longer standoff would slowdown and might even stop the cracking around the ears of the canopy.

I just used the TRex 600 ones on mine... they did need cutting down, but work well. The plastic ones are a few $.

I not using the standard standoff either since I am using larger 5S lipos, the only drawback of having the canopy sitting slightly uppward is the strange upnose look that the heli gets ...

I had to extend my standoffs About 3 mm on both sides. I also had to re drill the hole on the bottom. For 53 Bucks you figure it would be better :dontknow

Guys, i brought this to the attention of GAUI last week, its actually the holes in the canopy are drilled in the wrong location, and should be positioned an inch or so forward and higher. I also mentioned it would be nice to re-design the canopy mount, as it causes stress on the lower portion of the canopy...i hope they listen all of our recommendations regarding this.

Does anyone have side by side pics of the Trex 600 standoffs next to the stock Gaui standoffs?

I found some old standoffs that are used on a Computer motherboard to attach the motherboard to the case. I was able to screw these on the bottom of the Hurricane standoffs to extend them to the proper length. They were even shaped (HEX) the same.

Sad part is my canopy had already started cracking at the top before I figured out how to extend the standoffs..Iam going to have to call readyheli to see about getting it replaced. I knew I should not have put my hurricane decals on it yet :-(
