Hey Finless, did you get your Logictech LTG-2100T gyro on your Diablo setup first in rate mode? Kyle set mine up at the Funfly in rate mode, and it works freaken awesome now. Rock solid tail to the left and right. Though took some tweaking moving the servo mount to the right spot to find the no drift zone while in hover.

Can the 401 be setup the same way?

I need somebody like Jason to fly my heli hard to see if he likes the way the Logictech handles before I totally abandon my other 401. As it is now, its got me sold!!!

For the first test with this gyro no I did not. I just centered it and centered the pitch slider. It worked OK but didn't feel right. Then later I set it up properly like my video on the 6100T.

Even though I show new people on the 401 to set up the "easy way" by just centering everything the real truth is the 401 should also be set up rate mode too for best performance. BUT on a Trex450 doing so will limit you because of the geometry of the tail design. The 401 only has one limit pot so if you set up rate mode you cant get full deflection in one direction and has you know the Trex needs all the tail control it can get. The 2100 you can set the limit on each side so setting rate mode works.

I provided a source in my response to the thread you started in the Main Forum area.

I noticed in the Tail video that Finless mentioned "backing" Loctite. I assume that will work anywhere that the end of the screw is exposed? The reason I ask is because I used bolts and nuts on my elevator servo (a DS285) that I've already tightened down really well and I don't really want to remove the nuts just to put on Loctite. Just call me lazy.

Loctite 290.
But be very careful with it, I use a toothpick dipped into a small container of it. keep it clean and this is the best stuff.

My shiny new RCT450 Diablo Pro came to me yesterday, I installed the electics and locktited all fasteners, adjusted links, even used my old GY240. The included tools worked great, the heli has flown it's maiden with outstanding results! I setup the heli with 3x ds285 servos, 1x HS56 for tail, specktrum rx and included esc and motor. I am a happy helifreak today! We had a crowd at the heli field this afternoon all the guys really liked the interesting configuration of this bird, special attention was drawn by the silky smooth and tight tail slider. 3 flights later and the interest was still strong, the fiberglass main blades flew well, the included motor pulled good, the esc is a bit different to arrange the adjustment menu (i learn quickly) and soon had soft start and high timing applied. I always wanted a red heli and the Diablo is that heli. Thank you to RC-Tek, Scott and John and Finless for the video insights.

Mine should be ready this weekend too. I just have to try to locate a tail boom brace bracket locally; one of the screw holes on mine is stripped.

if it came stripped, give scott a pm and he should take care of you. i had a stripped tail slider elbow and a damaged tail pulley on mine and he took care of it free of charge (warranteed). am expecting them in the mail today. one great thing about rc-tek, scott will take care of you.

I did PM him last night and he didn't have any in stock. He suggested getting a T-Rex bracket until he can get me a Diablo bracket. So, I called the "local" RC heli place and found that they have the T-Rex parts package containing the bracket in stock. I'm probably heading over there this afternoon.

I knew the music was covering background conversations, but the heli sounds came thru well and do you always smile so large when you fly or was it the spot on auto landing, Bob?

Today I'm in Lost Wages, NV (Vegas) visiting family and yes people really do live out here. Even 100+deg action can't stop me from a few flights. I just reduced the pitch to +11/-11 and cut the timer to 4.5min, did my best to stay smooth in the 20mph gusts I still love to fly this bird. My GY240 is doing very well still?! I am going to pull the 401 out of my Trex or I have my eye on the Logitec gyro to, so I can have Justin do a few demo flight at the FunFly next month. He has a short clip as well in my youtube files. I figured out why my rex flies a bit inconsistant, the seesaw frame hits the Jesus bolt head on one side and the nut on the other making different angles for the fly bar... a little roto-file action tonight!
do well all you HeliFreaks

I used one of those swashplate setup thingies that Finless showed in the Diablo head setup video and boy was head setup quick. Thanks for that tip, Finless!

I have everything all ready to go except my homemade training gear, which just need to be fastened together in a criss-cross configuration and strapped to the skids. I don't expect that I'll be using them for long; I found with my Blade CX2 that I didn't really make significant progress until the training gear came off. However, I want them on the Diablo while I'm getting used to the feel of it.

I WAS planning on getting a Trex450V2 till I seen this series of vids and checked the heli out on RC-Tek....looks like more bang for the buck with this machine....hell it even comes with the full sized case for 150 bucks cheaper than the V2....I really dont see where I could go wrong....plus im kinda partial to the red anodising over the blue.....Way to go RC-TEK!!!!!:noteworthy:noteworthy

I finally got my Diablo set up and had my first flights (more like hops) today. This is my first CP heli, coming from a Blade CX2, but I must say that it's not as difficult as I had feared. I think those couple of hours of sim time I put in while I was waiting for this part and that part really helped. I'm still quite wobbly, but I was improving even by the time I finished my last flight/hop. My chronicals with the Diablo (setup and first flight videos) thus far are documented on my web site (http://web.mac.com/catservant/iWeb/Site/Diablo%20RC%20Helicopter.html).

Can this thread be added to the Helicopter support section? Or it might get way off the "Review/Overview" style... I know I have added to drifting myself.

great idea man:wink:

Btw bob -

another great set of video's:noteworthy

Do you have any plans on making a build thread on a swift 550???

Finless
09-20-2007, 04:11 PM
Century has not contected me about doing the Swift 550 but if they do I sure will!

Not enough people using a RC-Tek yet to have enough traffic to have a forum. Maybe later as more people have them.....

I see a few threads listed that get much less traffic than an RCT-450 and/or other RC-TEK products category would generate. The RCG thread (now a sticky at the top of the list) has over 52K views with 1.9K posts in 120 days. Our company forums have a few hundred RCT-450 specific posts with thousands of views as well. Drama aside, many people do like them and we have a good following from our happy yet silent followers in many countries.

In the end, it is the owner's of this site and Bob's descision to include anything RC-TEK related and we appreciate the opportunity to be allowed in the forums on any level. Hopefully, we will soon be seen as a worthy company that warrants a devoted section for our products. With 6 new offerings planned in 2007/2008 and multiple magazine reviews (latest one in print and being delivered now), I believe "RC-TEK" will become more well known throughout the online communities like Helifreak in the very near future.

Regards,
Scott

I hope so Scott... After meeting you I see how committed you are to putting out a great heli. The 500 you showed me looks promising. We are just a Helifreak community dedicated to helis... Trust me if your stuff gets enough traffic I will be the first to propose a forum for your stuff. Referencing RCG and as you know I do go over there from time to time.. No offense but within those topics there is a LOT of bull posts and such.. For the most part that doesn't happen over here... not saying it ever does NOT but for the most part REAL heli talk here on HF and not the RCG rantings you see over there... No offense as I said but we do run a little different over here.

So you know the way it has worked out with me is it starts as a build thread in my forum (not always though) and if it gets a lot of activity then I and the other admins agree to make a forum. The Hurricane 550 was exactly this way and why it got it's own forum.

Scott as I said I wish you the best man... Your a good guy I think and when you have all those products if the talk is high enough I will proposition to the admins for a forum for your stuff!

Thanks, Bob.

Scott-

PS: When you get the time, do you think you can show people how you ran your wiring on the RCT-450? We get a lot of requests looking for how the electronics are installed/mounted on this bird. No need to "review" the black motor and 40A ESC if you have no desire to, but just a quick "this is how Finless Yoda did it" would be cool. Thanks again.
