It's really more of an insurance thing. The links that TT sends are thin.... and appear to be easily broken. I don't trust them. I've known people to use them without any trouble. It's just worth it to me to cough up the extra $15 for good links and balls considering what a crash costs.

All of my TT balls and links worked perfectly for ~20 10minute flights. Then I burried mine into the ground inverted WOT. So needless to say not much of the head survived. I was using a combination of both types on mine(had rexV2 mixing arms). I am now going to rebuild with align balls for 1 reason, They are bigger and much easier to work with. I could not find a pair of ball link pliers for those tiny balls and the ones I already have work great on the align size links. Also the algn links and balls are more readily avaliable at LHS for now.
I cant testify that the little TT ones dont work as well or that they arent as strong, but the larger ones just seem more practical to me.
