Just wanted to share some info/ pictures. Recently purchased a Hyperion 1210i and (2) LBA 10 net Balancers. THe system allows you to charge (2) 3s packs, or like packs up to 12s. So far it's been a great set up. I wouldn't have even known about this charger if I hadn't looked real hard. I think it may get overlooked alot and it's pretty reasonably priced. For what's it's worth, it's worth a look. I like the blue backlit display too. If you have any specific questions or want more pictures, LMK. Forgot to mention, is A123 ready. if you buy the "A" version. ******(MORE PICTURES BELOW)*********

I got my LHS to order it for me, I need to look, but I think it was around $250, when I bought all the accesories ie: temp probe, network cable. but here's a link to one on here. Discounted pricing when you order the "kit"

Nice thread ChasHeliCop, it's great to get a good look at the gear.

Wow! At $222 for the full kit it really is sensational value when compared to a TP1010+210V (~$300) or e902+2xPB6(~$380). They are both higher power (220W and 200W respectively vs 180W for the 1210i) but for many, many people, the 1210i is powerful enough and a very affordable solution.

What power supply are you using for this charger?

Personally, I am using a using a Ripmax Pro-peak 13.8V Dual Output, 0-20-Amp Power Supply. That's a little bit of an overkill, but I am buying this stuff with the idea of future expansion in mind, instead of buy now, re-buy again later.

Thanks KG, if it had not been for your charger review, I probably would not have run across this charger. Thanks for your help, and knowledge. It's actually working out great. I am going to work on getting some more pictures DISCHARGE, CYCLE mode, etc. A few other screens I haven't messed with yet.

What power supply are you using for this charger?

I purchased a 13.5V / 36a supply from Marlin P. Jones (P/N 16752 PS) - which JUST arrived. Even more overkill, but I plan to use it for much more than charging batteries!

Just wanted to check on attachments Here' s when charging two packs, it shows all 6 cells. NOTICE THIS SCREEN SHOT WAS TAKEN WITH A FLASH. This is what it would look like in full sunlight.

I just did a test on three packs. I charged one by itself, and charged the other two together It took the same amount of time to charge (2) as it did (1). Now, here is something else I learned. The packs need to be at or really near the same voltage in all cells, ie: have been discarged approx. the same amount. If they are way off, it works the heck out of one of the balancers trying to bring to cells down to match the others. solution to this problem may be discharging to the same voltage before charging, but I haven't had to do that yet.

I really like how it displays 6 cells of balance info on one screen.

If you have (2) 6S packs, it displays all the cells in each pack on two different screens. I did another test, charged one pack then two packs together, it took the same amount of time to do two packs as it did one. I was just curious. :banana

Thanks ChasHeliCop for the product review. Your review has just given hyperion 2 x sales. I saw one of these at our flying field on the weekend & I was well impressed on how easy it was to use. Price & ease of use are two things that don't often come together but they have done there homework with this little diamond in the rough. 1 happy camper here.
Cheers

I am glad it helped. I think I may redo the post, since the "new" version of Helifreak, cut off the pictures, and I have more screen shots, and numbers. Maybe I can organize it a little better. I would do a video, but I don't own a camera and I will leave those to the expert, "Finless". Nobody can top that.

I have been using a Hyperion EOS1210i with a LBA10 balancer since last December. I have been very pleased with the combo since I bought it. I have recently thought about getting a second LBA10 so I can charge two 3s packs at the same time. I was wondering how it would work since the packs will not be discarged equally. I feel that this charger is just a good or better than the ThunderPower charger balancer combo.

I am using a 20A Pyramid power supply to power the EOS1210i and a MRC977. I use the EOS1210i to charge the lipos for my helicopters and the MRC977 to charge the NIMH packs that my RC Trucks use.

I have recently thought about getting a second LBA10 so I can charge two 3s packs at the same time. I was wondering how it would work since the packs will not be discarged equally.

"The instructions say :
*The two packs must be from the same maker, of same capacity, and type (ex:vx3700-3s, vx3700-4s to make 7s,)

* Ideally, the two packs should have a similar history. That is, they are both new, or they have been used in the same model, separately, for about the same number of flight hours before. You simply want to avoid pairing tired or old packs with fresh, new packs. "

Now, with that out of the way, I started charging two packs that were about 0.7 volts difference between the two. The balancers see this as one pack, one balancer is trying hard to bring down the higher voltage. It got a little warm, so next time I am going to try discharging first to the same voltages in the packs, then charging, I think that will save time, and keep the balancers from working so hard.

Hey Raydee,
I am not trying to sell one charger or the other, The Hyperion is just the one I went with. I did consider the Bantam chargers too..... I don't have the Bantam, so I can't comment on what it is capable of, there is a "rep" on Helifreak, I think RCACCESSORY, Evan, can answer all your questions about Bantam products. I am by no means an authority on any charger. KGFly does a nice charger review, and it came down to specifics I was looking for. This charger just fit the "bill" so to speak.... If I can help, let me know.

Hey Kearal,

That's why I started this post, I didn't know about this charger until I read about it in the fine print somewhere and startng asking alot of questions.

Ok, another small piece of information When the packs are different voltages, ie: the packs are off a little, I found it's easier and faster, to hook up the packs, let the balancers work on them a little before hitting the charge, it brings them in line quicker and also finishes charging quicker. Now I have been charging to 100%, I don't know what the affects of charger to 90 or 95% would be, except quicker.

So how long is it taking you to charge two packs to 100% using this setup? I just bought a 4th FlightPower 2170 for my Rex and am seriously considering getting a second LBA10 so I can charge two packs at once. I would really like to be able to charge all 4 packs in about 2 hours instead of 4. Thanks for the info.
