While i was attempting to take off the bottom plate on the engine i stripped a screw. Therefore i had to drill a hole through the screw and then use a screw extractor to get it out. When i was drilling a lot of the metal scrapings fell on the flywheel. So therefore i am going to have to take off the flywheel, but i have no idea. I am hoping some one here can help me or guide me through this. On the flywheel there are two spaces for screws i am assuming this has something with putting in on and off, but obviously i am not sure. If anyone knows how to take the flywheel off so i can clean off the metal scraping that would be very much appreciative. I should note i toke apart pretty much the whole engine and the screws under the fly wheel.
BTW the dog starter is impossible to get off. Any suggestions for this?
Thanks,
Kevin
Same thing happened to me. Check out my post in the Toxic Racing Motors thread. I ended up sending my motor back to TRM to be taken apart and cleaned.

You can use a piece of nylon cord or shoestring (just take off the nib) or similar to lock down the cylinder. The tool that Zenoah makes is what I refer to as a "piston punch" as my belief is that it is unsafe to use. Thread the string into the plug hole making sure that it does not stick out of either port and use it to lock the piston. Now you can spin the dog off of the crank. The dog will loosen counter-clockwise. Use an adjustable wrench or something that can engage both tabs at once to spin it off.
You can also get the metal particles out by using compressed air and by wiping the magnet clean on the back side from the coil with a thin instrument covered with a soft cloth. Just take your time and wipe the filings out.
If you must remove the flywheel, use the tapped holes and get or make a puller to remove it.
These three screws are most often Lock-Tited into the motor base. Use a large flat blade screw driver and apply a bit of heat sparingly to the motor lug to get these out. If a screw does not seem to want to come out by just turning it, use the heat and ALWAYS use a large enough screw driver to engage the screw that won't mar up the bolt as it is soft metal.
Hope this helps!!

The same here, when trying to remove the bottom plate. Didn't have the metal scrapings fall into the engine though. I used some double sided tape around the open areas that possiable the metal scrapings might fall into.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Well appreciated. Going to try to do it tonight. I will let you guys know how it turns out.
BTW should all the screws be put back using locktite. For instance i took apart the 4 screws in the cylinder head. Should they be screwed back with blue loctite. Doesn't loctite melt away in heat or loosen? Thats why i ask.

Heat in moderation is your friend. I think John is working on getting with Carey to update the Spectra G Instructions to give more info on removing the screws.

Yes, you can use a small amount of blue Lock-Tite (SMALL).

well i was able to take apart the starter and the flywheel to clean off all the metal scrapings. there was quite a bit that was in there.
Btw i am wondering do you think it would be ok to drill two holes opposite from each other into the starter dog so for future purposes it would be easier to take off or even tighten when putting it back.
Thanks everyone for the advice.

I would use a large open end type wrench (or some other tool that accomplishes the same) that would engage the two dogs to rotate the part off of the crank shaft. Again, a little heat will help here in removal. Drilling into this cast piece my weaken it considerably.

The motor will come with one or the other type screws in the back plate. Try using a properly fitting driver and lightly heating the lug on the case for getting the bolt out. Finesse' is the key here!
