Well, about my lipo battery. My dad thinks thats its completely fine, and that I should use it again - but I dont want to risk a $1000 heli. Heres the deal:

I charge the Align 22c 11.1v 2100mah battery at 2 amps with a Dynamite Vision Peak Ultra. No balancer, but the cells were still in balance since it was a fairly new pack. I run in my helicopter, hovering at 1ft for the pack untill I noticed power was low. At that time, voltage was 3.5v for each cell, which is well above the limit. I noticed that the battery was warm, and I could notice it was a bit rounded. It wasnt extremely puffed up, but I could notice a roundness to it. An hour later, the battery was cool, and it wasnt rounded anymore, it returned back to its original state.

My dad says that my battery is OK, its just simple physics, as gas inside the battery gets warm, it expands, and thats why my pack was a little rounded. Nothings harmed now, since the gas is back in its unexpanded shape. But I know lipos are sensitive...

Is my pack okay? Did I recieve a faulty one from the factory, since it didnt over-discharge? Whats going on, my dad says the roundness is normal, or is it? I really dont want to buy a new battery, but I dont want to replace a helicopter, either...

Thanks!

The roundness is NOT normal for a battery that is rated correctly and operating under normal conditions, it is a sign the battery is being pushed beyond its limits... unfortunately though, it IS normal for an Align 22c, which seems to be anything but a 22c continuous battery... This battery has become infamous for puffing under light loads (and sometimes with no flights on it at all). Mine lasted about 8 leasurely flights on a Trex before puffing permanently, at which point the battery has permanent cell damage and in my opinion is a becoming a fire hazard and can't be used. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Align batteries are pretty much a write off as soon as they are used a few times.

Razor Racer,
Check out this thread, " Align 3s1p Batteries Junk ? " Align has been replacing these puffed batteries with a new lot, still waiting for some feed back on the new ones.

I've got about 30 charges on both my Align 22C 2100 batteries. They both puff mildly after use but return to normal within about 15 minutes. They're working fine at the moment but I'm being extra cautious about charging and storing them.
