Ok I am brand new to the hobby and have only been flying on real planes g2 for a couple weeks now. I am going to eventually get a blade or a honey bee. i just have a few questions:

1). Will blade cp parts fit the honey bee( my local store carries blade not honey bee)

2). What exactly is the diff between the fixed pitch cp and the pro? What exact controls would be lacking over the copter in fixed pitch versus variable? I am just curious as i have been training on a variable pitch heli...at least i think but i am not sure as i dont really know what the diff is...lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The Blade CP (not Pro) is a collective pitch helicopter like the CP Pro. The CP Pro comes with Lithium batteries and a Bell-Hiller head. The standard CP comes with NiMh batteries and a Hiller head. I think the Pro also has symmetrical blades out of the box while the standard has flat bottomed blades. This means that the Pro will be more agile (less stable) but will have longer flight times out of the box. You can buy upgrades to convert the standard to the Pro and you can tune the Pro to perform like the standard CP.

You can read a description of the differences between a fixed pitch and a collective pitch helicopter (http://www.electric-rc-helicopter.com/article/fixed_collective_pitch.php). Basically, a collective pitch heli will be more responsive to control inputs and can fly inverted but a fixed pitch heli will be cheaper to repair and easier to set up.

The blades will fit, tail blades will fit, perhaps the motors.

Why not just buy the blade cp if your lhs carries it's parts? Probably because you're leaning towards the honeybee fp right? Some parts may be interchangeable, like the landing skids, and the tail boom and such, but i wouldn't count on anything in the head being interchangeable. I find that I am shopping for parts online half the time anyway.

If you do decide on a collective pitch heli, may i suggest the honeybee king 2 (http://www.jaghobbies.com/rc_planes/ek1h-e016a.htm)? it's the same size as the blade and honeybee but comes with a belt driven tail instead of a motor tail...less electronics to deal with, and more responsive and reliable.

for the value tho, i think you are on the right track sticking with the fp and learning on that. when you get more serious and are ready for cp, look into the bigger and better helis like t-rex 450 or mini-titan

If you are looking at the CP, don't overlook this new addition by Horizon,
Blade CP (+) It's like a CP that's been upgraded and cheaper $199 than the CP or the Pro.

Do you still have these parts?
Do you have a Paypal Account?
If so, I woul like to buy them for the price quoted.

Thanks
Flynn

The difference between the fixed pitch cp and the variable pitch pro is that the pro has the capability to do 3D were as the cp dosnt. In my opinion the variable pitch would be easier to fly than the fixed pitch. I know because my uncle (who got me into this hobby :)) had a fixed pitch hughes 300 and the thng was really hard to fly, even for him and he flys a trex 450 and 600.

Dont make the mistake that I did.I want from the blade cx2 to the blade ccp never got it to hover worth a damn. After months of fixing the cpp, throwing all the money at it that I did I could have easly paid for a trex, which is next.I picked up a HB fixed pitch a week ago.Within the week I have been able to hoover well.I have has a few crashes, picked it up and kept flying. With a cpp It would have ment buying more parts.I am not bashing the blade cpp,it is just tricky to fly.

If this is going to be your fist heli I would start with the blade cx2.Small enough to fly in the house, and on clam days Ill take it outside to fly.

With prior experience on a kyosho Hyperfly and a coaxial heli, I actually learned to fly helicopters with my Blade CP. Yes, there's a big pile of broken rotor blades, bent shafts, and bent spindles, but in the process, I really learned how these things work. The Blade CP is a good trainer, because it is demanding to fly and simple to repair. There's not a thing that you can do to it that can be visually solved at a glance. You'll learn about set up, what works and what doesn't it. It will teach you about RC helis. When you can fly the Blade, you can fly anything.

I also have a T-Rex 450SA. I purchased it after I mastered FF and hovering on the Blade CP. Everything people say about the T-Rex is true, it puts a smile on my face everytime I fly it. The quality of the parts/components is in a league of its own. It's a great helicopter, but also a significantly larger investment than the Blade CP. You're looking at around $1000 with a good radio, servos, gyros, motor, esc, tools, and a couple of batteries. There's no magic -- it will still cost you if you crash. If you don't have anyone around to help you, it's much more challenging to set up and trim. The Helifreak finless videos are more than helpful, they are necessary. Take a gander at the T-Rex 450 message board, you'll see questions for all kinds of problems that aren't even in the Blade CP owners lexicon. Fortunately, there's a strong community to help, but all-around, financially and emotionally, the T-Rex 450 is a much bigger undertaking than the Blade CP.

For $199, you can pick up a Blade CP+. It includes everything you need to get going including training gear. Sure, you're probably going to crash it a couple of times and spend on average about $20/crash. The parts that you do break, you typically can find locally. You can do a lot of crashing before you even get to the entry price of a T-Rex 450.

It's a lot easier to explain a $199 purchase to your significant other than $1000 "for the hobby". Regardless of the path you take, please understand that this is a pointless, expensive, and addicting hobby. There is no "cheap" way to fly R/C helicopters.

You hit the nail right on the head, I also have a BCPP and of all the heliopters I've flown, it's by far the hardest. Once you get used to it, it's also a really fun heli to fly as well, but it takes a lot of practice.

The RTF HBK2 can be had for only $149.99 @ jaghobbies.com .

Most of the parts on the HBK are poor quality and not available readily in a lot of areas, yeah it's a cheaper heli and has a belt drive, but you pay for quality... unless you have a lot of luck

The quality of the parts on my HBK2 are pretty good. The availablity of parts aren't all that great -- especially here in San Diego. I usually have to order from the net -- helidirect or jaghobbies. Good thing they ship fast.

In every forum i read about the the HBK2, all who own it love it. Lots of converts over at the RunRyder. It looks like the HBK2 folks there have taken over the BLADE CPP forum.
