Anyone else had problems with the canopy clip cracking the fibreglass on the canopy when the clip retaining screws are tightened up?

Seems all very tight to me and I`m using the shorter rear canopy mounts as well.
Fitted the canopy with the screws out of the clip at first and then checked alignment and put the two screws in.I now have a crack on one side by one screw which I`m sure will completely fail when the heli gets flying.
I don`t think that the angle the clip fits the canopy bottom is 100% correct.

some canopy's need the holes opened up a little before putting the screws in and the screws do not need to be very tight. a small crack by 1 screw will not fail in flight. the canopy is not under that much stress...

So what about the canopy is it that makes this the worst design ever ? The construction ? the paint ?

I have four stock 600n canopies so far and the clips on all four are slightly different in some ways. The one that came with the kit, god rest it's soul, was perfect. The clip fit perfect. The next one was very loose, no good. The last two are ok but I had to drill out the holes as well, they weren't even close to being the right size. Let's hear it for Align QQ!

Mine has seemed to hold up well so far after 19 flights of taking it on and off. I can see where it may be possible to over-tighten the screws (I have a habit of doing it myself) but I appear to have done it ok.

As far as it being hard to put on and take off, I just don't see it unless mabey you mounted the clip upside down or something (just brainstorming here). I line up the clip with the notch, put my thumb in the vent cutout area and reach with my fingers and grab the skid and squeeze. Snaps right on. Taking it off is easier as all you have to do is get your hands on the clip and peel back the tab a bit and it pops right off.

I'm not ruling out a possible defect or quality control issue with some clips/canopies though. Just fix it and fly!

Align must have done some looking arond the raptor forums.

The mod for backwards FFF is to bolt the clip on , there were problems with the raptor clip letting go and putting the canopy into the swash .. and well the result is a easy guess.

It does take a bit to get on anf off though. I got the cheapie kit so the plastic canopy will take more abuse than a glass one will.

One thing i suggest is to release the rear grommets then pop the canopy off the clip, with the rears loose the canopy is free to pop off and not get all caught up and possibly crack the fiberglass.
