Hey everyone, I wanted to chime in in support of the HDX450. I have one and I enjoy flying it when i can. I am in Iraq currently and the compatibility of parts with the TREX is important because I can swap parts after a crash. I have not had any problems with this heli and would suggest it as an improvement over the TREX. I think the fit and finish of the G10 parts is acceptable and the better electronic properties of the material versus carbon fiber is a bonus. I don't have any problems with the bearings and have had great customer support on emails since that is my only means of communications. I would say if you are unhappy then please send me your HDX450s, I could use the parts and like the helo. I fly in a small club in Iraq, I am the only HDX450 guy, and I find that I have fewer issues, not sure why, but I have a 7chp, and no glitching or problems. I hope eryone else enjoys this hobby as much as I do since I find it as my primary source of relaxation when not working. For anyone interested I would happily send pics of me with my two helicopters, an OH-58D and the HDX450, I am very proud of what I do and I like the HDX450 as my hobby, fun fun!
First, I would like to say a Big Thank You for serving our country and protecting my butt back here. If you will PM me with an address I can send it to in Iraq I will gladly send you the bits and pieces of my HDX450 V3 for parts as a very very small way of showing my appreciation for what you do... besides, it will save me money in the long run as I won't keep fixing it! Take Care and of course I'll cover the shipping as well!

The thing that's getting me is that I have read so much about people raving that they can replace HDX450 parts with Align parts... Why not just buy an Align Heli to begin with?

I am in a quandry. I have a guy ready to give me a good deal on the HDX450, but if it's not V2 quality, I might just get the V2 instead.

One thing that the HDX450 has going for it is that it is something different than what I already have.

Price price price. HDX450 are a good bit cheaper than the T-REX 450 V2, parts are quite a bit cheaper than Align. The HDX machines are being improved all the time, especially now that Rotorworkz Charley is the CTO of HeliDirect's parent company.

I have a HDX450 V3 and a T-REX 450 V2. There are no Align parts on my HDX450, none are/were needed.

Actually both kits that I built(bought new from HD) did in fact require Align Flybars because the sonic bar that shipped with the kit was too big to fit through the bearing. I even called HD and they promptly sent me another sonic flybar that didn't fit. The Align flybar fit nicely. Also, the bearing were almost all very grindy in both kits so many Align bearings were used in mine. Also, the metal in the head is so soft that the screws strip way too easy in my opinion. I will say again...when it was flying it flew great..just tired of fixing a bird I didn't crash. Ball link screws pulled out of the blade grip threads on the last crash. Never have had any of these problems on my Trex450se, Trex600, or any of my raptors.Their crashes were all my fault! :) Hope Charley makes things better

I appreciate everyones support for myself and my brothers and sisters in arms. I really enjoy flying and serving my country. The sacrifices my family and I make are well worth it especially since America is the greatest country on the planet! I love flying the HDX and I have noticed that taking the time to set it up and show it some love has helped me tremendously in set up and catching things that were wrong with it when I first start it each day. I noticed that the ball joints were loose and swapped them before I had any issues, the only problems I have had is from dumb thumbing it. Either way you fly enjoy your hobbies and enjoy those around you. I have made real friends from this hobby and hope to include more in that list as I continue to fly, it is something you can share with your children and parents alike, I love it. My father got me into it with a build of a Goldberg Anniversary Cub, my kids like to watch me fly and I have made friends with guys from down in Georgia from our shared interest in flying, and it is just plain fun! The interchangeability of this helicopter makes it great, especially since my friends running plastic align gear love the stainless steel look of the HDX and I have given out a couple sets for broken align. Either way I wish everyone happy flying and great signals!
