Will the shortshaft work with this kit or do i need the long pyro shaft?

nope won't work you need a 100 mm. shaft, I made my own but you need a straight shaft, I got one from bearing supplier. It has to be grounded shaft or it won't be straight. Also you can get from slowfly world

I've got a G4 on the way, but I cut down the shaft on my X-Era 4530-500 when it was outfitted on another heli. It currently sits at 96mm in length now. Will this still engage atleast half of the bearing support, or should I see if I can`t still find a shaft before the heli arrives?

total on pyro needs to be 100 mm., xera being taller you need longer
