My one-way seized up yesterday for the first time and I have just started my 5th gallon (about 45 flights prior to this happening). We broke it free but it just seized up again.

I'm going to take a look and clean/oil it and see if that gets it going again. Failing that, should I purchase a new Align one-way for $7 or a Boca one-way for $18? I'm pretty sure Boca's are better but $11 better? What do you guys think or what have you bought when you replaced yours?

i had read loads of reports that the oneway bearing locks up after a sertain number of flights... so when i was building mine i took mine appart and to my horror NO GREASE it was totally bone dry, so i totally packed this oneway bearing with the red grease that came with it and the installed it in my heli and 2 gallons on its been fine..... im going to do and inspection of the clutch when i use 4th gallon of fuel..... but remember always strip your oneway bearing and pack it with lots of grease, it takes about 10 mins but saves alot of hassle...... :)

I've read many posts regarding lock-ups, how about slipping? I did have a blade strike and I'm thinking that is the cause. What do you all think?

During my last flight I noticed the gyro was having trouble holding the tail. The tail was jerking about. I was stumped for awhile but I guess the Auto bearing was grabbing and letting go several times.

Thamks for your ideas...

Slipping is easier to detect and worsen quickly. Total lost of headspeed despite engine screaming as a rule.

Just yesterday I was replacing the one-way bearing which had started locking up every flight (but only after a very nasty crash, it never locked up before it was crashed.) Anyway, I pressed it out with two sockets and a bench vise. When I went to press the new one-way bearing in I thought I'd try to start it with my fingers, if possible, to get it started straight. Much to my surprise I pressed it in about 90 % of the way with just thumb pressure. The vise finished it up but I didn't expect it to be so loose.

I drizzled in some green wicking loctite to help hold it but then went to the LHS and bought a new one-way bearing/hub assembly for it. I'll keep the repaired one for a spare. Should they be this loose ?

Looks like Align may have updated something:

http://www.align.com.tw/shop/product_info.php?cPath=22_72_89&products_id=1894

It looks like the same old bearing, case, and shaft, just in a combo pack but the description says "New design of one-way bearing for preventing locking." Anyone know if there is a new bearing in there or just new language made for the new package? The bearing part number looks the same as the separate one that's available.

I'm still going to try to clean and re-lube my bearing before buying something. I like eliseer's design but the product seems like it's just too new and production costs are too high to make it a viable solution. At least not for me anyway. I can get a Boca brand replacement for $18 or the Align replacement for $7. I'm still not sure if the quality and performance is any different between them though.

I got the new one way after my kit bearing locked up after 5th flight. The new bearing kit comes with hub shaft and bearing and I have put 2 gallon through it with out a lock up.

I got one of those from tech models. Left the grease in there and added some oil. 1 gallon in and all is fine so far.

OK, well my bearing just locked after only 3/4 of one gallon. I did use a small amount of red grease when I assembled it. Although you could still fly, it's my preference to have a working oneway. I actually noticed it immediately when I hit throttle hold (already landed). Hyper took a whole 3 seconds to come to idle. May not be much, but if i'm going to start doing some autos - I want all the help I can get.

So that brings me to the million dollar question - what replacement bearing is tried and true? I know this thread hasn't seen anything for awhile.

BTW: eliseer, are you just a spammer with your only 2 posts about lukerc? is it legit?

Well I broke my bearing free and soaked it in rubbing alcohol and cleaned it real good then oiled it heavily with triflow. Seems fine by hand but I haven't flown it yet. We shall see this weekend if I'm going to need to buy a new one.

5 flights in on a brand new sport and mine locked so hard i had to hammer the sleeve out. tore out the retainer and 1/2 the pins fell out.

got the updated sleeve and bearing installed, but my 9303 had to go in for service :( grounded for a few weeks.

My oneway locked up during my first five flights. I took it out (it was very hard to get off the mainhaft s) and used triflow grease on it. It locked up yesterday but it was easy to break free. I called align and they said once a oneway locks it will always lock. I am going to buy the new sleeve and oneway today.

What grease or oil is everyone using?

After I cleaned and re-oiled it like I mentioned above it hasn't locked up since and I've probably flown about 6 flights on it since then. I think Align might just be speaking cautiously when they said it will always lock up. Either that or mine will lock up again sometime soon and I just haven't given it enough time.
