Just thought we could see how many of us have had the one-way bearing lock up.

Mine locked up after 5 flights

Also who dismantled their one-way and applied the red grease supplied in the Kit?

From what I have experienced playing with the bearings in the 600's you need to start with a new bearing and sleeve. Clean the grease out of the bearing and lube it well with Tri-flow oil. If you keep the bearing lubed with Tri-flow it should stay unlocked.

If your sleeve or bearing was damaged from a previous lockup then you will have to replace them.

I am on my 12th gallon of fuel on the sleeve and bearing that came with the heli. At first it locked on me also. Until I got the grease out and kept the bearing wet with Tri-flow I got lockups every few flights.

Now I put some Tri-flow in every gallon or 2 and have not had a lock-up since. Still running the stock bearing and stock sleeve that came with the kit, for me this is what works.

I have been through about 6 bearings in under 3 gal. White lithium servo grease has been the only way out. Still locks but can be broken free by hand.

On my 4th TREX with about 200 flights and haven't had one lock (YET) probably all 4 will go this w/e !

I locked up 2 times with same bearing.. The second bearing is fine after 6 gallons.. I removed the grease and applied transmission fluid to the bearing..

As a new nitro owner and also new to this hobby... how do you know if the one-way locks up?

One thing to remember also that most bearing have a higher RPM rating with Oil rather than Grease.

I think the oil, ATF , Tri-Flow, and the likes, lube the needles better and allow them to move back into place to unlock. The grease seems to be too thick and sticky to allow the needles to release the sleeve.

You cannot spin the main gear in the opposite direction without the main blades spinning as well.

Take your bird looking from the right side (tail servo side) and try to spin the gear to the front of the ship. If it spins freely then your good.

I do highly recommend taking some denatured or rubbing alcohol and rinsing the grease out of the one way bearing. You can clean the majority out with a Q-tip and then soak the bearing in alcohol to flush out the rest. Then apply liberal amounts of Tri-flow or a similar lube to the inside of the bearing making sure to soak the needles in oil.

Re-install the sleeve and gear back into the heli. You should only need to re-oil every few gallons, I do it every other gallon.

Doing this should keep the one-way free of lockups no matter how hard you fly.

Ticidytoc,

You re-oiling in the heli? Or removing the maingear. Haven't tried to get at the sleeve with it installed. Can you do it?

Mike, I pull the lower Jesus bolt and remove the main gear. Split the tail drive gear from the main and pull the sleeve. Apply oil to the needles and re-install everything. I use generous amounts of oil and make sure it soaks in between the needles before I put the sleeve back in. Spin it a few times to help the oil work its way in and go fly.

I usually do this out at the field before I fly, every other gallon.

Got off the phone today from my LHS and I am informed that the bearing shaft is slightly undersized and to send send back my oneway case bearing and shaft as next week they will have the upgraded parts in which is supplied free of charge under warranty.

So this should be an end to lock ups, hows that for customer service.

Captcasper7, Great to hear your local shop knew about the prob and replaced your bearing.I am just building a pro and concerned about the oneway.Went to the shop i got mine from and they knew nothing of the probs or any upgrade.Basically they were not bothered.Next time i will use mail order.

It's been so much back and forth on this bearing issue that I simply installed mine without doing anything.
No cleaning, no oil, no grease and it works fine so far, 1 gallon.

600N Sport, bearing was stamped "Germany"

I have my replacement now and its all ok

My old bearing shaft was 11.98mm, my new one is 12.28mm and is a much better fit.

Mine locked on the first flight. Cleaned it out and put oil in there. That got me all most a gallon of flying (hard day) before it locked again. Broke it all free and re-oiled and did a test flight, everything is fine again. Guess I will re-oil every 4 or 5 flights.

Finally Mine locked at the begining of the second gallon!.
Checked it carefully and found small crack in the separator! so be careful and don't reoil and reuse them cause I'm 100% sure that after locking your separators are also deformed !!!
