ok so i just swapped the plug ont he stock dx6 pack onto a 1500ma 3s 20c pack. when i turn the radio on, everything works doesnt seem to have any problems or anything like that. the lcd display says 12.3v the stock nicad pack only went up to 11.3.. so before i go flying with this pack in there, or leave it on for longer then a few seconds.. is this ok

i got it figured out, a female jst connecter will work great with the plug inside of the radio.. the lipo pack has been awsome. im pretty sure i wont have to recharge but maybe once or twice a month.. if you dont want to change the voltage regulator. this is the best thing you can do ...i didnt want to be soldering anything inside of my radio... the pack fits nicely, and helps to balance out the cg of the radio..the electrifly 3s 1500ma 20c power series pack was under 60 after tax...if any one is interested but im sure most people have an extra lipo laying around that they dont use..

You better be carful charging that thru the charge port. Do not charge at 2C or it will not turn back on. I have been making 3s2p Ion 2000mah. packs for them. runs it for about 2 to 3 mnths flying every weekend.

i dont charge through the tx charge port any more.. i just pull the pack out to charge

txflyer........I have a DX6, also, and I'd like to get more time out of a battery. Exactly what do you have to change on a lipo to make it fit the battery plug inside the radio? I have (2) 1350 lipo's lying around I could use instead of the nicads it normally takes. Could you send pics of what you did and how you did it? Much appreciated.

i just put a female jst connecter on my electrifly 1500 3s pack. then took some pliers and crushed it alittle for a tighter fit. it slides right down on the white plug inside of the case. there is barely enough room inside the case to get the lid on it. but it does go in there. when i charge i pull my pack out and charge it.. with a fresh charge the screen says 12.6 to 12.7 volts just make sure you plug it in according to + to + and - to -..i havent clocked the run time yet. but it takes it awhile to drop .1v

figured id update this

using fly-log.com ive been keeping track of all my lipo's

i recharged my 3s 1500 pack on the 29th of last month, since i have had 9 flights on it, and some time running the electronics for setup changes.. when it came off the charger the dx6 said 12.7v it is now sitting at 12.1v. i know id have had to charge my stock pack atlest 2x's by now.. so i figure with a 1500 pack i should get upwards of 25 flights on it. with flight times being 4 to 5.5 minutes..i will reupdate this once my dx6 says the pack is sitting at 11.3v.. wich is the lowest i will go before recharging..

im going to put my dn 3s 2150ma pack in it with a full charge to see how much longer a spare trex sized pack would net a dx6, once the 1500 pack in it goes through 2 more cycles..

I still don't quite understand how you can go from a 9.6 volt battery to an 11.1 volt battery in the DX6. Doesn't make sense to me! Isn't that overloading the circuits in there? And how do you get those thick wires from the
LiPo into a jst plug? It wasn't designed for that size wire! That's why I like to see pics of the things you guys say you do. Makes more sense to actually SEE it, ya know? :)

i had cut the wires on the pack down and then soldered the jst connecter wires to the pack wires. sure i know going from a big gauge to a small one like that isnt good. but it works. no problems what so ever. tucking the wires in once the jst is plugged in, there is just enough room to get them out of the way for the lid to go on. nothing excessive...

like i said i dont have any issues what so ever. no wires get hot. no blown fuses. well except for the time i plugged the wrong charger into it..also helps even out the cg even tho its still alittle heavy at the bottem..

btw the blue tape is to hold the balance lead out of the way..

well, i charged my new 9.6v pack for my dx 7 yesterday, when i put it in the tx it said it was at 11.7v, so thats only .9 volts below what a fully charged 3s lipo should be.

Weird, isn't it? :) It still doesn't make any sense to me! :) Oh well......if it works.....great!

im thinking with a 2150ma 3s pack i might get upwards of 35 to 50 flights before a recharge...i only did this cuz i dont want to be soldering on the internals of my dx6.. if i screw something up im screwed, and i dont have the money to even thinking about trying to get my hands on the x9303

well my dn 2150 3s puffed earlyer this week so i cant use that..

but with my electrifly 3s 1500ma 20c pack in my dx6 it just hit 11.3v and i have 26 flights on 98% of those flights were 5 minutes exactly..

btw the dn pack was NOT in my tx, it puffed in my trex

so if you use a spare trex sized 3s 2100+ma pack you should net around 40 to 50 flights some where in there...

i also figured out and i could be off on this by a few minutes but i got 120 - 130 minutes of flight time off one charge...
