This has been mentioned many times but most treads on this were about supplying the servo with 6 Volt and this is a bit different;

I'm running a Kontronic BEC30 on my Hurricane 550 which has an output voltage of 5.6V (I measured it). I run a s9254 on the tail and I'm still not quite sure whether I should add a stepdown for the power or not. Since the 'step down converter' is no more than a diode it would give a power drop of 1V to 1.2V which makes it a bit to low I guess.
Does anyone know how critical the s9254 is in this area??? Would 5.6V be oke or am I pushing my luck?

I would put a step down in myself. It only needs (and should have) 4.8V the Futaba site does not recommend any more

5.6 volts will be fine with the 9254. I know several pilots that are using the 9254 on regulated 6 volts and they have worked fine for many flights.
A good 4.8 volt pack when fully charged will be 5.6-5.7 volts for the first couple of flights.

That was exactly what I was thinking, I was looking for some confirmation on that thought realy. Thanks for that/.
