Well, no new activity since this subtopic was altered...so, let me stimulate some "girly whirly" talk.

I LOVE HELI'S. I think they are really intricate and I love all the detail it takes to set one up. It's weird how I have the patience to sit down and read manual after manual (or website) about how to program this or that...but I cannot STAND the tedious process of building an airplane. Hmmm.

Right now I have a T-Rex 450X that I'm flying indoors and outside when it is calm. I'm still discovering more and more about electrics each day, so I'm still working on that "perfect setup." I just sold my Raptor 30V1 so that I could upgrade this winter. I recently completed building a Raptor 50SE with an O.S. 50 (Hyper). I don't have any special pipe picked out for it so I just installed the "upgraded" muffler than came with the kit. I love JR Radios so DS8311's are going in it along with a GY502 gyro and later, a GV-1...yay, more electronics to learn about!

My goal this summer is to begin competing. Actually, I'll probably compete in the airplane world first...but, who knows, if all my sim practice pays off and I get some guts, I may actually do something other than just hover my 50.

I'm always looking for advice, so if you have some for me, lay it on! If you are planning to go anywhere up north, look me up. I'm trying to make plans to go to some fly-ins in Bismarck, ND; Fargo, ND, and the MSP area in Minnesota. If my husband is home (he is active duty AF) in June, then I'm going to beg, plead, and cry until he takes me to the XFC in Ohio. Malorie is an alternate to compete there this year and I want to be there for her!!!!!!!!!!! GO MALORIE!!!

So, let's here it girls...what fly-ins or projects do you have in store? Spring will soon be here!!!

Hello Jeanette,

Another female heli lover; I flew class one at the NATS last season. It was my second season with class one. Competition modeling has always been my passion; from the first time I lifted a model into a hover. It's an art to have one built and trimmed such that little to no vibration can be seen or felt while manipulating it from one cone to the next. The thrill of competition ignites the drive to diligently practice for the event.

I fly Miniature Aircraft. The contest models are Graphite SE's with Tempest heads and modified RT 700's. They weigh in at about 230 grams. The power plant is only a YS 61ST2. We retarded the timing in them last year to smooth out the rough edges. It was at the cost of power; when only hovering, stability is the main focus.

My electronics are Futaba controlled by a 9Z, and my source of glo is WildCat fuels.

Model Heli's are a girl's best friend.

Hiya Robin!!!

Nice to meet another lady out here who flies! The weather here in ND is finally taking a turn for the better. 73 degrees out today, but REALLY windy. I'm looking to maiden my Raptor 50SE this weekend...if all holds up. Engine break-in and re-tightening is all I'm looking to accomplish but I'm so excited to finally get out and fly!

Let me know if you're ever in the area for a fly-in. Keep us posted on the competition!

Okay, time to revive this part of HF for what few of us are out there!

If any ladies are out in the west coast, let me know what contests and fly-ins you'll be attending. I'll do the same.

For sure, I am going to the Reno Rotary Rondezvous held in Nevada June 9-11. Hope to see a lady or two there!

agoodman/pgbabygirl: PM sent to you on RCU.

Welcome to HeliFreak! Do you have an interest in flying RC Helicopters eventually? I started on airplanes about 14 years ago. Now I would probably say I'm more involved in helis, but I still love my planes. I'm much less experienced in the heli world, but there are so MANY nice folks here on HF helping me gain more knowledge each day.

Good to see you here...I'll help you whenever I can!

You'll love the little T-Rex's! I have 2 that I absolutely love flying. I can't wait to see a set of V-blades when they're ready for the T-Rex.

I knew I should have gone to the Vegas FF...missed meeting up with some of the Bergen crowd. Maybe I'll attend next year!
