ive been teetering on the edge of getting another 450 size bird after accumulating enough electronics for one. was interseted in trying out a different design other than my trex (love the rex), either the dragonus or mini titan. so this morning i was browsing RCG and saw a banner add, 15% off at hobby lobby, and it sent me over the edge. a few clicks later, next thing i knew i had an order confirmation number. doh! killer deal, 134 bucks (plus shipping).
these things are like tattoos......glad i never got one of those though, id be covered in em by now!!!

quick update....
well, hobby lobby sure sucks when it comes to shipping. ordered monday morning 8/6, thought id get it by the end of the week at the latest. just checked tracking and its not scheduled for arrival until tuesday 8/14. eight days from tennessee to california seems a bit long. at least they have united hobbies from hong kong beat by a few days, lol.
man , i was looking foward to working on it this weekend.

i was thinking about the MT but tracking problems, and most of all , the hot running power system (i live in the desert) kept me from gettting it. i just wanted a 'beater' to fly in case of down time on my SE, not one that id have to dish out more cash to make perform correctly (metal arms/blades,motor). and besides hobby lobby doesnt even carry them , lol.
plus finless gave the dragonus a big thumbs up.

update.
finally got the kit today, it only took eight days to get to cali, lol, but heres the kicker.....no motor!!!!!
im having second thoughts about ever ordering from hobby lobby again, we'll see if they man up and send out a motor asap.
theres a moral to the story so far, dont get drawn in by sales or anything and stick to retailers that have taken care of you in the past.

Sorry to hear that. Hobby lobby is in TN? I know it sure takes me a long time to get shipments from CA shops, so I doubt that HL can help that much. Good news for me though :). Hope they make good on your motor.

Hobby Lobby has probably the best customer service in the industry. They will send you a motor, and without any shipping charges also.
I've never had a problem with them replacing missing or defective components. I just wish they carred T-REX parts!

your're right, talked to them yesterday morning and got a motor shipped out free via 2nd day air, should be here tomorrow. so everything is cool, except for my fingers after doing a marathon build last night. man my fingertips are sore after that one! :)
quick q: where can i find a plastic trex boom servo mount?? seems like everyone just has the blinged ones and they wont fit.
oh yea, heres a pic of the newest family member so far.....

Yeah, I built my R50 over a weekend and boy were my fingers sore! I finally started using allen wrenches through the ball ends to twist them, but I believe there is a handy tool for this purpose I'll certainly be buying before my next kit build.
Doesn't HD sell those boom mounts?

ok, lets try this again.....posted last night but it did a houdini on me :)
number two is in the books! i finally got all the kinks out (got the motor on friday, way to go hobby lobby!) and got it all dialed in last night and it looks like shes ready to roll . i did the battery tray mod, decided to go with the HS56's instead of the ds285's, no bec, and ended up using the frame mount for the tail servo instead of the boom (worked out nice, balance is spot on)
ready to maiden and im already shakin thinking about it. gotta love it!

well......grrrrr......i just got back from attempting to maiden. spooled up and noticed a HORRIBLE vibration. the entire head is wobbling like crazy, swash is doing a lil shimmy side to side dance as the main spins. the only thing i can think of is a bent main shaft as its acting like my trex did after a crash. how can that be? a brand new heli with a bent main?!? its the only thing that it could be im thinking. i am SO NOT into ordering parts for something that hasnt even left the ground yet.

I hope you get it worked out. That sure is a pretty heli! I love the landing gear on the dragonus. It makes the thing look alive.

I agree. I think it would look sweet if you hit the tail fins with some color as well.

i got a chance and took the head off and spun it up and found out the main shaft was true, so.....its culprit #2....the dreaded plastic head mount. i heard from someone at RCG that rcer indeed had a bad batch go out and wouldnt ya know, they sent em straight to my house! so im contemplating getting just the metal head block for 30 bucks or for 77 bucks getting the whole upper metal head. bummer huh, lol.
