Another Trex450SE knock off. What will give us the incentive to buy it?

at the Jamboree starting today, Tim is showing 3 new models, the Ion-X2, the Razor Nitro 600 and the Beam.

I believe he brought a limited # of kits of the Ion and Razor to sell at the show and both are pretty close to being shipped in qty.

Yea I looked at it a little longer and it does look nicer. I would like to see a 450 size that has a head that comes tight and stays tight.

I have been in email contact with Tim and have an X2 on order from MA. Here's the last correspondence:

8/2/07
Hi:
The Ion-x II kits will be ready for delivery within the next 10 days.
I can offer white or black in the larger type gear.

Thanks Tim

That puts it at about 8/16.
From 8/2- thats 2 WEEKS!!!! Seems I've heard that somewhere before.=)

There's a video of Bobby flying the Beam on RR. You can find it in the IRCHA video section. It looks like it flies well, just a little hard to see.

It looks like the Beam didn't shine bright enough to make the grade.

Ding Ding, we have a winner. Funny how when you don't get the deal, all the sudden that heli isn't good enough for you.

MA's own designed 450 size model will be making a limited public flying debut tomorrow in Chicago

As time goes by and more people are able to compare this model against the other 450 sized models under regular use, it will start to be more clear why MA designed their own.

Owners of XCell helicopters know that they are durable, reliable, and stay "tight" even after many flights. The 450 will be no different.

This weekend, the I-Hobby Expo was held near Chicago IL here in the US. This included an indoor flying event for electric helicopters.

In its flying debut, Nick Maxwell and Bobby Watts flew the new MA 450 to 1st and 2nd places respectively against many of the worlds best pilots and against the latest and greatest equipment from our competition!!

Look for more information soon!

For now, congratulations to Nick and Bobby!

Bobby requested the beam looking tail not be photographed, but here are some shots:

Wow, so they lost the Beam deal and just decided to rip off the design and say it's their new heli. Congrats MA, one more reason I will never be a customer of yours.

They "lost" the Beam deal? or The Beam company reneged on the deal?

Do you have any idea what your talking about? I would say "NO" since it is whole new helicopter and parts of it can not even be photographed yet. I would also wager Bobby Watts and the other pilots that helped designed it would have a few choice words for you :YeaBaby:

To add:

Bobby was saying that he and Nick at the iHobby competition, with this helicopter, were very comfortable in the tight spaces. NO OTHER 450 HELICOPTER can touch the head design. PERIOD. No slop in the head, adjustable ratios, and it flies like a 90 sized. 2oz lighter than a Trex and less parts than any other 450 out there, Also, the main shaft bearing block and motor mount is one piece. Like no other helicopter out there.

So what did they "rip off" the servo layout?

?

You know most times you would be right with that blind reply to internet trolls, but this time Debian I do have inside info. I know the full story on why MA didn't get the Beam deal and I know who in the US will.

And yes photographs have been taken, the link was a couple replies up on this page.

http://rob.com/lancair/2007.10/

Compare the frame design, head blocks/servo mounts, and tail boom blocks. All direct rip offs of the Beam 402. They even left the Beam paddles on it in the pics! There are no tail boom pics because they are using the Beam tail box while probably waiting for their copy to be made.

I'll give MA one thing, the head is unique and not anything like the Beam.
