This is only my 3rd spherical pano that I have done away from my usual testing location (my house :) ) So go easy on me ;)

Shot from about 325' AGL with my Nikon D40X and Logo 24. It was a stitching nightmare with all the curved roads.

yep.. AP was on and set at 85% gain. No altitude hold or GPS yet. Mabe one day if these spherical panos prove to be lucrative.

Nice! but whats with that big hot spot?
ANd the horizontal tail fin is heavenly!
those curved roads must have sucked stamping in CS.
Good stuff DJ, when I get my AP2000i sorted out, i'd like to give it a try. At least a 180 pano.

Really great job, DJ. What lens and what is your AUW for the whole system?

The sun. My exposure is a little hot so the sun is blowing that area out.

how long did the post editing take you?

About 45 minutes

What lens and what is your AUW for the whole system?

10.5mm & 14.5lb

Thank DJ. I ask because I'm itchin to get a DSLR back up in the air again. Only shooting with a640 on a Swift. The pics are good but nothing compares to a DSLR and quality lens!

Last question (I think) - what kind of flight times can you get with that weight using what batteries?

Great web site by the way. Haven't looked at it in a few months and the changes are very nice - very well layed out.

Have you?? From a heli?

I would be very intersted to see some from this lens if you have.

I used to use a 16mm fisheye, and that is not enough to give a large enough vertical shot without a lot of nadir patching.

I now use a 8mm fisheye and it works out great, very similar to DJ's 10.5mm.

Both these lenses provide roughly a 180 FOV, so this works out great when taking picts from the heli.

I just can't believe the 14mm gives enough coverage to shoot from a heli on a cropped sensor camera.

Thanks,

DJ... I was looking through previous posts and didn't find any pics of your Logo 24. Are there any here?

14mm on cropped sensor won't cut it. Even with my 10.5 I have a fairly large zenith patch that has to be done. I usually tilt my camera down about 15° to make sure nadir is covered fully.

Sorry no pics of the pano rigs. and you probably won't see many either. Pano work is something I will not get into too much detail with either by writing or pics. Even though it's not an entirely hard process I've got a few of my own tricks that I'd like to keep to myself for a while.

I have the 14mm 2.8 for my canon and on a 1.6x (1.5 on nikon) crop factor , like DJ said, it is not wide enough. Plus its super heavy and super expensive. I wouldn't dream of putting it on my camera ship. The only time I use that lens is for really big (pay) weddings on my full frame 5d or my 1ds. otherwise its not worth it. If i need really wide for helicam work i'll use the 10-22 cause its light. it'll be a long time before i try a pano tho...
Good job DJ, But I meant the hotspot on the ground. I knew the other one was the sun. you could probably highlight the area and do a huge feather a few times depending on DPI and adjust levels to get it close.

BTW DJ, you got to clean out your PM box ;)

45 minutes of editing time wasn't as much as I thought it would be. Very neat stuff, but I don't know if there's a market for it. I would love to know what the real estate agents are gettng charged for the ground panos they put on their websites. The air panos blow them away, but if they are realtively cheap, real estate agents won't shell out the premium that the air panos deserve.

there's a huge demand for it in certain markets. These are not for real estate agents. Where the money in these is, is condo balcony shots which can be billed for between $800-2000 per floor.

BTW DJ, you got to clean out your PM box

whoa! the new system only lets you have 350. I still had nearly 500 of them. Just cleared out a couple hundred.

DJ, I remember you posted earlier that you were having trouble getting your AP gain above 30% on your Logo 24. How did you get such a big improvement?

Nice Pano DJ, I like the subject.

Off topic, which blades do you prefer for your stretched Logo 24. I like the SAB 690, but they need to be sanded at the rooth otherwise you can not fold the blades in the grips.
