Personally I will be ordering the 6 and 8 mm shafts, I have a custom wind Xera 4530 that has 6 mm shaft and a custom wind 4540 that has 10/8 mm shaft.

Don't know how popular this thread going to be with just 50 world wide helis - most of which I suspect are in Germany but I note 3 have been ordered for Australia that I know of !!!

ANyway - 2 stage pulley system with pulleys available 18-25t which is a huge range :thumbup:

The combined ratios for the two-stage work out to be equivalent to a single 216t gear so ratios available are:

18 12.00
19 11.37
20 10.80
21 10.29
22 9.82
23 9.39
24 9.00
25 8.64

That covers a huge range of motors in both 12S and 14S configs - I guess the ratio depends on what you're going to plan to use the heli for and guide speeds given by Banshee are:

1000-1900 RPM (3D)
1900-2100 RPM (extrem 3D)
2100-2300 RPM (high-speed)

Other vexed choice is for shaft diameter - at present mainly the forthcoming Pyro 800s that offer 8mm shaft but I liked the 8mm shaft on the Joker3 so thought I'd plump for that and then either reshaft a Scorp LE motor or use a spacer sleeve in the pulley to take a 6mm shaft.

I thought I'd plump for 21t to use a 540 on 12S or a 480 on 14S to give a choice !

So far I settled on:
- Scorpion powercrocco 4540 (4+4, 1.7 mm, 473 KV) on 14S
- BLS 157HV/256HV
- Kosmik 200
- Vbar silverline 5.3

I'm thinking that I might have found a home for my 4535, if not maybe a Xera 4530. Going to order a pulley for each. Not sure that bottom motor bearing will be real accessible for oiling on the 4535. Other than that....

BLS255 x's 3
Kosmik 160 or 200 depending on motor
Likely a Mini Blueline Vbar depending on space
Due to the 60 x 60 battery compartment, going to stick with 12s so I can use the long TP 6s series stick packs I already have.
If the last 2 numbers on the invoice are the serial number, I got 39 so they might be close to selling out the first run.

Looks like the 21 tooth pinion for 520 KV and 19 for 470-480KV, what do you think guys?

yea im looking at somewhere in the middle of their equatons. Would love to go 1800-2300hs with the 4540-450 on 14s so i probably will have to try out 2 pulleys at least.
Parts are pricy for sure but not as bad as I had feared. 65 a side for frames is doable. With both pieces the tdr is not that much cheaper. I think I just spent 110euros for all 4. Everything made out of titanium is pricy but should hold up well in a crash. I played college lacrosse with the advent of titanium shafts. They were as light as aluminum but took a hell of a beating. Hopefully that translates to heli's!

Titanium is very light but also quite soft and usually doesnt have the tensile strength of steel. Kasama uses titanium bolts in non-extreme locations such as motor mounts. I am a little concerned to see a titanium spindle bolt and not surprised its M8!

I think 21t is the pulley sweet spot and may allow trial of both 14 and 12s

So EVERYTHING metal is titanium? I was going to ask the guys what exactly is titanium and what aviation grade alu.

Why 21t on 12S with 520kv? Shouldn't the 20t they recommended me be ok? I don't plan anything above 2000 to start with. I'll go into the HeadSpeed calc right now.

Lipos? Are you guys going for 4400 as other 12S 700s? On 14S the equivalent is what? 3700?

I was looking at 4400 and 3850 tp's in 14s sticks. I think even with the 4540 and yge 320, I ended with a 10.7 lb all up weight using 4400 14s tp 65's. One could certainly make a sub 10 pounder easily.:bacon

21 t pinion seems the one to go for 520 KV, i liked the values on both mode 6 and mode 4 using heliJive. For 14S I think we can get the 3850 mah from TP, each weight about 717 gm for a total of 1434 gm, not bad but the damn 4540 is heavy already but I guess you need some heaviness for speed.

They recommend up to 2300 for speed and that is why most of are here I guess. Certainly the Diabolo handles 2100 on 753 with aplomb and my old Henseleit MPXL-E ran on 2300 feeling like it was 2000 so I hope the Banshee is similarly capable.

I really like the new Desire Power 4400 40C 12S sticks - that will be my first port of call before thinking about 14S

So no one is planning on using this baby for 3D? C'mon!!! I think 4400 7S will be too heavy for 3D, may be ok for speed + 4540 which is a beast at over 700gr.

I'll remain 12S to share packs with the TDR and Diabolo and use 20t to get good governing up to 2000 and still be able to go down to 1400/1500. Then for speed I'll get a 21 or 22 later on.

It's such a light heli, I don't think it will matter much. Im sure you can tossit around with 4540 and 4400 7s tp's

Or put 3850 14S or 4400 12S, a Pyro and HJive (60gr lighter than a Kosmik) and toss it exactly the same but at 1600rpm and fly for 8 minutes!

Yea, I might do the same except try the 4535 on 12s and then put the 4540 on 14s for speed.

Speed depends on the application. From a dive, weight is not a bad thing, but horizontal speed only you want the heli light for optimal power to weight.

Haven't finally decided yet, but right now I want this bird to be the lightest I can make it. And yes, I will also smack it around on the deck...it has titanium parts for Pete's sake...:D

Get the 20/21/23 then you can have a good play! Craig is probably right the pinions would be off the shelf items so there should be no issue supplying mutiple pinions

I got the reply that multiple pulleys were no problem. With the flexibility of this drivetrain, I'm looking at 17,18,19,20,21,22,23. What's an extra 105 euros at this point! I want 1600-2300. With 4535 and 4540 450. The American banshee guys should do a group buy of spares when they are available. I hope they do credit card or PayPal in the future. $50 plus for the bank wire would suck if you needed a 17 euro skid.

On the Diabolo tail belt I found I had to retension it on the boom 3 times over about 6 weeks while it stretched and since then it's stayed static witht he tensioner looking after it - the drive belts look much stionger and I doubt if they'll stretch

Hey, finally got confirmation. I've got the 4535le and the 4540, yge 320, vbar.
Which servos would you guys use between 8717's, bls351's and torques? I would love some bls 157's but I already have these sitting here.

(I'm leaning towards the bls351's)
