View Full Version : How difficult to convert graphite 99 se to flybarless?

So my friend has 3 carbon99's he converted to electric, one 10s the other 2 11s, all on Actro 32-3's I think. They are awesome flying machines. I may buy one to go along with my trex 600.

So looking at the mechanical swash mixing, and seeing all what is going on with the v-stabi / mikado v-bar systems, I got to thinking that it may be very easy to eliminate the flybar and use two GY401's (or similar) for cyclic stabilization. Since it's not CCPM we don't need a mixer as far as I can tell. (unless there's some unforseen issue with swash phasing that crops up?)

So, my question is what all will be required to make this work; what 'gotchas' might we run into? Getting more power / higher efficiency, better cyclic response, ect. by just adding a couple gyros sounds like a no-brainer...

Thoughts?

Nice, thanks for the link chuck. Looks like maybe the 401's aren't flexible enough (programability wise) to pul this off... Shame, we have several sitting around.
