I posted this in another thread, but this may be the more appropiate location.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is there any relation between the IRCHA Pilot Proficiency Program found at:
http://ircha.org/pilot-proficiency-program/

And the AMA Helicopter Competition rules at:
http://www.modelaircraft.org/events/...Helicopter.pdf

Do you need to be a certain IRCHA PPP level to compete in AMA or other contests?
Are the PPP levels actual competitions that are performed at the Jamboree thing?

For the sake of practice, are there any other published maneuvers that beginners could train with?
I have heard about FAI, and 3DX but I assume that is Intermediate and above type contests.

The PPP and the AMA competition helicopter rules have nothing to do with eachother. The PPP program was developed by the IRCHA over a decade ago.

AMA/FAI Heli contests are open to anyone, including the Nats. 3D competitions are usually exclusive, invitation-only "contests". The AMA classes are built in stages to allow any pilot comfortable with basic forward flight, loops, and rolls to compete at the lowest level, Class 1. The following classes, 2, 3 and FAI, build up on maneuvers by adding more components and variations. FAI F3C is the highest level of competition.

If you want to practice, start by reading the schedule of manuevers at the AMA link you posted. Then, look at the thread I started, called "AMA Class 1 Explained" for some more insight. Depending on your skill level, you may also consider checking out the upper classes.

Cheers,
