Would this fit the Hurricane? Would it be a useful upgrade?

i was just wondering that myself. I am using the trex 600 carbon fiber tail boom (shortened of course
) and the 600 thrusted tail so I dont see why not. The only problem I can foresee happening is it may be too tail heavy. I am awaiting an answer back from Readyheli :)

I have not checked but I am pretty sure the Align boom is different in diameter to the Gaui boom!

Actually I think that the Align boom is just 0.1 mm larger. So it fits in the frame, and I guess it would fit into the tail case to ??

I think I read on rcgroups that the difference in diameter was 0.5mm. I can't find the post again though....

Why not replace the hurricane boom with a 600 boom and cut the 600 boom to the length of the hurricane boom for belt considerations. Then you know the tail unit will fit the boom and as long as the belt works, you shouldnt have any problems.

I convert my Raptor 50 with the 600 metal tail case and looks good but need to add spacers and reuse the Raptor belt gear to fit. The belt of the Raptor is wider than the T-Rex 600

That's what I would do, but do you know if the belt will fit? Is it the same module? Same width?

"I have not checked but I am pretty sure the Align boom is different in diameter to the Gaui boom!"

All it takes is a little light sanding and slides right in, If you are using the short Gaui tal then the 600 boom will have to be cut down, no big deal. If you are using the long gaui boom, it is actually a couple mm's longer than the 600 and no mod is needed, just sand down the front part of the boom and it slides right into the frame The metal tail is a nice upgrade and you dont have to alter the aft part of the align boom..flies niiiiiiice. :)

Cant answer that. I dont fly nearly well enough to justify finding out. I'll find out once I end up breaking the stock tail setup. That's how Ive been modding my Hurricane. My latest fiasco has resulted in a CF 600 boom and the Raptor landing skid upgrades. :D

I think that's a good idea for me to. The stock Hurrcane is more than good enough for me. But still, it's nice to know what options you have when you need to repair/upgrade. By the way, I bought the TRex 600 landing gear but found thet the Hurricane looked ridiculous with it, like a dwarf with big, big shoes !! So, is the Raptor landing gear smaller that the TRex 600 landing gear ?

( "Thrusted tail" is using the new tail grips for TRex 600 with thrust-bearings)

If you get the new T600 "3D" LG struts they are quite a bit smaller and might be more aesthetically pleasing:

Original H60039 Black, 230x80mm
Old 3D H60040 White 3D, 230x60mm
New 3D H60111 White 3D, 200x60mm
New 3D H60126, Black 3D, 200x60mm

Note: T600 skid tubes are 9mm OD AFAIK

Just for reference, what are the dimensions of the H550 LG (strut width, height and tube diameter) ?

I think the original landing gear looks real ugly and out of proportions, thats why i bought the trex 600 3d (white) landing gear, that setup looks real nice and much more scale then the original crap.

With the trex 600 3d (white) landing gears i have the perfect hight, and perfect width, so im satisfied ;)

Excuse the off-topic comment - it's funny this LG thing. Some folks find the H550 needs T600 LG. Meanwhile folks are finding that the HDX500 needs H550 LG ! Lucky there are so many helis around so we can find LG to suit each from the others

Thank you guys :)

H550 stock: 160 x 50
T600 3D: 200 x 60

On that basis the T600 3D does seem likely to be a good fit for more stability and tail clearance without looking silly.

I think the raptor skids are bigger than the 600 skids. it looks almost 4" wider than the stock 550 skids.
