HI there All,
First post!! I have one question. I have recently purchased Phoenix Flight Sim and am doing the hover training. Question is, what is the point/ what should I be doing when doing the Tail Rotor only Hover.
When the hover starts, the Heli will drift to the left and keep going if I don't flip the whole heli 180 degrees.
Is that what I am meant to be doing?
Thanks
Dale
I think you will learn faster if you turn all that stuff off and just practice hovering.
The sim apparently holds the disk level, which won't let you account for a phenomenon called translating tendency. Since the tail rotor creates thrust, it will try to push the heli sideways, and must be corrected for by tipping the disk. On most helis, this is to the right since the disk spins clockwise and the tail blows air toward the right. If you watch the real helis and on better sims, the heli will hover slightly off level.

I'm still new to all of this, however, I find the hover training especially in 104g to be extremely sensitive and I can't control it at all( unless I slow the speed of the sim down, which I don't like to do), so I find myself trying hover training for a few minutes, then giving up and just using the regular sim for practice as I find it more realistic and I learn how to use the programing in my TX to make changes as to how the heli reacts to my inputs.

Don't even bother with the hover training, youll get it from just tring to hover, I know I did.

i like reitaterate the point, i cant seem to pratice hover. except usint co axial blade bird. i am triny realyy hard to hone my hovering but i wandering off i spend most of the time chase after it. and tring to get in a position. the odd thing is i can don auto rotation nicely. i wonder if phoenix would consider writing a mods to remove traslation tendency for newbes? rant over

What good is it going to do you to have the sim make it too easy? It's normal to have to chase the heli when first learning, so you're better off learning how to anticipate where the heli is going to move and make adjustments before it gets up too much momentum in that direction. That's what happens in real life.

First, try flying the bigger non-scale helicopters. They aren't as twitchy.
Second, try increasing your expo rates to 30 or 40% just to get started.
