Hi guys :)

Some of you might recognise me from RCGroups, RunRyder and APLanding .... just thought I would make my presence known here too :)

Here's some info on the setup I run (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7859686&postcount=2
)

I look forward to participating actively on this board :)

Cheers!

Hi David

Welcome. You have a great variety of tools. We are still building our tools up so it's great following what you have done on RCG...

Is RCG still around? I haven't been able to bring up the site in about 2 weeks.

hey David. For some reason I thought you were already here..... silly me.

Glad to see you here. You'll find this place to be a little more friendly and courteous than the "other" place. That is until the "you know who's" start to wander this direction.

I'll have my Aero-Photo pole up and running soon. Quick question since you have one... how much wind have you operated yours in fully extended? Mine was flexing a bit yesterday in about a 7mph wind and it was making me nervous.

DJ, how high were you?

50 feet at any time not guyed would make me nervous. Did you even have a load on it yet?

50ft is good at sometimes for certain things (like I know what you want to do with it), but sometimes 30-40 is perfect for your shot, and so much more stable.

I am still interested in hearing all feedback on this unit.

David, I have seem many shots from yours, do you always fully extend, or is it too unstable at full extension?

thanks,

DJ - Well I registered in 2005 ... but I think that was only to watch a vid or something :)

To be honest I don't know what wind speeds I've erected it in ..... enough to move the branches on trees maybe. I've rarely extended it to its full 50ft. Usually I'll leave the second largest section unextended ... maybe the third largest too. One way to get best stability would be to leave a much longer overlap between each section of the mast .... Currently I push each section up until the solid red ring around each tube appears ..... if you do it such that you stop once the vertical red lines appear that should help the stability greatly.

Hey David! thanks for your comment on my 600 heli cam thread :)
thats a really nice setup you have. The next thing for me to do is build a mast system for my company. I like your backpack system, but would've made the battery easily removable. I wouldn't want to charge the pack in that nice custom case, and also you'd have to tear it apart when its time to replace it. Maybe it is designed for that, but could not tell from the pics. very nice homebuilt system tho! you could sell those easily!

maybe 45' My gimbal with camera is about 3.5lb. The company says up to 5lb is ok with no wind and guyed with wind.

You're right... for what I'm shooting 35' is ample and I'll usually just extend each section only about 70% . Much more stable. I do plan to run it up to 50' and guy it to see how much difference it makes.
