Hi .
I ´m going big and getting my first 90. Because I’m into hard 3D ( at least in smaller helis), I had doubts about the servos the 90 SE need s. after a little research I narrowed down to 9351,9254, 9255.
9254 is great in speed but has nylon gears and half the torque( maybe just for the Tail)
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Ian

9254 definitely ONLY for tail. does not have the torque for the swash.
and as far as the others I would say any of the two you mentioned (and other brands also has their contenders). If you get into some servo seller like www.servocity.com you can check and compare different servos speeds and torque.

Hitec 6975's are good for a 90 size

The Htech, have a torque of 144 and a speed of 0.10

Is this enough torque, or shoud I sacrifice speed and consider what futaba´s 9451 has to offer : 192 and 0.13 ?

You mean the 9351's. The 9451's at 6v are 120 oz/in and 0.10sec. 9451's are fine for the Raptor 90. The Hitec 6975's are also fine as are the Ace servos.

If I were building another 90 right now, I would probably go with the JR 8717's.

Just what creightoncarr says, I would definitely go for the new JR 8717's. They are extremely powerful and fast (160 oz and 0.09 @4.8 volt). You can even run these servos at 2S lipos! Some of the best 3D pilots out there are using these new servos.

Cheers

Yes, these servo's are awsome...JR 8717's are hard to beat.
