I think I've narrowed it down to the raptor 50 and the gohbee 50. I see that the raptor has a split gear tail drive. does the gohbee have this or belt tail drive? also, which is better? is one more durable? are both even in quality?

thanks

Both the Gohbee and the Rappy have belt driven tails. Almost identical systems.

It's a decent heli, but the support for it is not very good. Parts are not so easy to come by, and not many people own a Mosquito so help is limited. :(

Like people have said previously in this thread, I would recommend that you go for one of the following helicopters.

- Thunder Tiger Raptor 50 or Gohbee 50 (Basically the same thing accept a few changes)

or

- Hirobo Sceadu Evolution 50.

Those models are easy to find parts for, and are easy to get help with.

If money is a problem then try and find a used heli. Have a search in the "Helicopters for sale" section, you can find some really good deals in there.

Hope that helps. :)

Argghhhhhhhh!!
Robbe is good equipment, but parts are difficult to find, and I personally haven't seen a real live machine in years.

I have been in contact with a guy who has a real nice v1 rator 30 for sale. it comes with carbon fiber blades, thunder tiger 36 , skysport 6 channel radio, glow plug/voltwatch meter installed, gy240 gyro and only three tanks of gas through it. I talked to him over the phone and he seems to be heavy into heli's. very informative and not real pushy as far as selling it. he's willing to sell for $450 including shipping. does this sound like a bad deal? from what I've been seeing out there, it seems o.k.. other than the fact that it's a v.1 and not a v.2 .

thanks again for all your help and info.

It's a decent deal.

The good :-

- CF blades
- Glow plug/Voltwatch meter
- Raptor v1 (shame it's a v1 but can be upgraded to a v2 later).
- GY240

The bad :-

- Skysport 6 radio (you will out grow the radio quickly and will only end up needing/getting a more advanced radio).

- TT 36 engine (The engine does not have a good history, it's well known for being unreliable and in some cases blowing up  ).

I still think you should wait a little while until the right deal comes up in the "Helicopters for sale" section.

Overall though it is a decent deal, it will get you up and running with only a few extra electronics required, eg. servos. :)

I think you should take Bart's advice and buy a SIM! Its the best way to learn and will save you a lot of money. Just use it as a tool to learn, not a toy to play. Although they sure are fun to play with. Then get a Gohbee 50 and a OS hyper 50!
