Align is quick to make revisions to problems, but Compass is just as quick and they are 1/100th the size company. As for you Finless, Big congrats on your recognition in the hobby at IRCHA, you deserve it through and through, you have with your videos and posts helped many many newbies and I personally appreciate the time you took to do so. But I must respectfully disagree about one or two Knights at IRCHA. There was at least 30 of them there, honestly. I know it cant hang with the align numbers. But, Since when does buying the bandwagon heli make it the best choice? I dont think a bad choice could be made between the knight 50 3D and the Rex 600n. Fact of the matter is, if you could live without the "bling" and truly only cared for how a heli flew....I would pair a knight sport kit up against a 600 anyday of the week. If you were not able to look closely at the helis and they were setup with like equipment, you would have a hard time choosing which one you like more. That is honest to the bone. And that is a 260 dollar heli kit. And about repair cost, Compass stands alone.

I just bought my first heli this week. After doing alot of reading I bought the Knight sport. I was tempted to get the raptor at first and then the 600N. The old design swayed me away from the raptor and reading about all the problems with the 600N in another RC align forum kind of made me look elsewhere.

The knight while not nearly as popular as the other two seems like a great bang for the buck for me. Ive just never been much of a follower I guess.

Lets not forget the Knight 3D was available for purchase before the 600N. The 600N has been out 3 months and we now have a metal fan, new dampeners, thicker frames, shorter canopy lugs, a gyro mount, a .50 pipe is available and my LHS has 600N specific repair parts.

The 3D has only been out 3 months longer than the 600. Out of your list 3-4 are to fix issues so why isn't Align including them in their latest kits? At the very least the fan and dampers should be included.

Thanks for the comments guys...exactly what i wanted to read from you but as i said, writting that thread in the Compass forum would have been less diversified, opinons speaking. I must agree with Bob that the parts availability is a major factor in the decision. My buddy at my LHS told me that whatever i choose, it will be a good heli but his wall is full of Align parts! He just received the first kit from Compass couples of weeks ago. He was not expecting too much from that machine at the begining but after he flew it, he was realy impressed. He will now order kits and spare parts to put on his walls. Tomorow, i'll fly both and realy clear my mind then.

Thanks for your support! I will let you know my choice soon.

thats the thing with the knights. sure they might not have laser etched feathering spindles logos on the booms and serial numbers but they do exactly what they say on the tin.

they are the best flying heli 50 that i have flown. this includes the 600n, raptors, sceadus of all specs.

if you look at the spec of the knight sport it really shouldnt fly that well the CG is quite low, 2 stage belt drive on the tail, no push pull. and plastic everywhere.

but some how it manages to have crisp sharp, accurate and fast cyclics especially once you mod the mixer arms to the same ratio as the knight 50 3d uses. Collective is fast, tail is strong and its pretty damn crash resistant too.

i think part of the trouble is the price, its just too cheap for most to take seriously. it gets thrown in the "raptor clone" catagory of helis and assumed to be cheap crap.

doc, you got the knight/600n comparison spot on. Even the sport is quicker and sharper on the cyclics than the 600n

Hi Guys,

I tried calling today but, MTA Hobbies is closed till 8/23...Anybody here know the difference between the Z-99-EM\M and, the AZ-99-EM\P versions of the Knight which they list on their website? I did not find these ID numbers on the Compass, nor on the Motion Unlimited site.

Thanks

Roy

Wow G Scott Im impressed. Have you been taking cheerleading classes from Mike Fortin?
LOL just joking. I see you really got a good oppinion of the 3D.
It is a very nice machine, cant say which is better myself as I have never owned a 600N.
But you have had experiance with both so I feel you know best.
So I take it the 3D is holding up well then?

I dont mean to dig up old crap but BOB's post about the fan hub slipping I really dont understand. It is the same setup everyother 50 has. Hub screws on crank, nut locks hub down, fan has 5 or 6 screws holding it to hub. Where does the aluminum spacer come in?
Can anyone explain this one to me as my kits must be missing parts and thats why my machines are so lite in weight.

Rodney, Your models are light because everyone knows Florida, due to its global position spins slower than the northern states, therefore applying less gravitational pull to the model on the scale. Dont be stupid.
