Hey Folks!
I have a zoom, actually it's a Falcon 3D (a SE version) and I managed to reduce a lot the slops and I thought I would share it with you guys.
1. When I bought it it was verry sloppy, actually I was afraid to fly it. The problem was that the guys who assemble it in China didn't even screw all the parts right. They were loose. So I took apart everything spep by step and tightened it well and at the same time I loctite-d every screw. I even had to replace some screws because the engineers in China thought it would be cool to put some countersunk screws over the bearings x(. So I put some flathead screws (found them at my local store) and managed to hold the bearings and parts better, tightened more, less sloppy.
2. Well...after I did Part 1 i managed to reduce the slops but I noticed there was still a lot of slop caused by the low quality ball links. Solution: Replace ball links. So I bought some Raptor "Socket Link Ball Screw Set (Long) 12 pcs" (see pic /// I used 3 packs and got a few left) and the Ball Link Set for T-Rex (see pic /// I used 2 packs and got a lot left). Theese balls don't quite match so you will need a Ball Link Reamer (see pic) and resize them till they fit and move freely. I replaced all these except for the ones integrated in the flybar cage and the ones on the swash that connect with the 'A' Arm Lever because you cant resize those.
I made this mod on the falcon but as falcon is a copy of the Zoom/Shogun it should work on that too.
After I replaced all the ball links I could i can hardly get a slop. I am testing it tonight. I can't wait to see how she flies :D.
