Proof of concept.
Got the heli where I want it to be.
Now I know the 600 with the fuselage, lights and cockpit is doable.
Did a few test hops but we have had 4 days of 100+ temps.
Later I will get another fuselage and do a better paint job.
Interior is from the 21st Century LittleBird helicopter.
Pilot is stock from a police heli from 21st.
Same as their military but wearing blue.
Heavy as a brick so all thats his are his boots, hands and head. Body made from foam.
Trick was the FP 6s1p 5000 location.
Mounted longways underneath created a tail heavy situation.
SLide the battery in longways. Turn it sideways so its flush with the lateral wood support.
Cg is dead on.

You can drop alot of weight by making the figures body/arms/legs out of foam.
They do not pose as well but some velcro on my pilots a** keeps him still.
His helmet with night vision along with his vest/gun is also heavy.
I also have the army pilots and with full gear weight a ton.
All of this scale stuff looks incredible but they were not worried about weight.
Right now my rex has 3 nav lights running off a 9v bat.
A search light plugged into the receiver.
2 fans, one of the motor, one for the Esc plugged into a 2 cell 1200 lipo.
My rex is fat but flies very scale.
Its been way to hot outside to test much but Im expecting 5-6 minutes slow flight.

Jim,
What type of fans do you have in stalled, what voltage, size, etc...? Can you post pictures of your setup as I'm concerned with the temp my heli will have once I put it into it's scale body...
Thanks in advance!

This has been the hottest summer on record in SC so when I did fly, it was short hops. After one of the crap Align batteries died on me and almost led to a crash, I decided it was time to upgrade.
I recently bought the new NEU heli motor 1515h/2.5d/f/h thats got a huge fan inside. I also got the CC 110 ESC which is overkill. FP 6s 5000 lipos. Thats about as beefy electronics as you can get. Adding more cells would use more volts, less heat but Im sticking with the 6 cell.
I also ditched the radix blades and went with 610mm semi sym blades. Im not planning on any 3d or inverted flight.
All my helis I use the radio shack 12v fans. I usually have them in pairs with one on the motor, one on the ESC. On the rex, I hook them up to a 9v battery. They do not draw much and the battery fast a good while.
The Hughes 500 has the huge side openings so airflow is not bad.
With the others Ive seen like the airwolf, there is not as much so that could be a problem.
My plan is high quality electronics that have higher ratings than what I need combined with occasional landings and checking on the heat.

Hey Jimjam where did you end up finding your semi sym blades? I have been searching high and low without success for my scale bird.

610mm Rotortech Carbon Fiber Semi-Symmetrical Main Blade CN266175C
Got mine from FXAEROMODELS
Great place to deal with.
I have not tried them yet but I know of at least 2 others using them on heavy rex 600s they use as camera platforms.

I'm not so sure I like the way he has his hand on his "stick"!

Here's one a buddy (that flys the real one in the background) sent me. I think he said one of the mechs built it.

Look in the rex 600 forums for some new pics.
I spent close to a grand redoing all the electonics,Neu motor ect. Overkill but Im keeping everything cool and want the heli to be as reliable as possible.
Moved the pilot to the left seat where he belongs.
Now that I have most the bugs worked out and found the best setup for it, Im eventually going to get a new fuselage and really scale it out. Rivets, opening doors, details ect.
I kinda like stand off ,squint scale.
If you get em to perfect, you become scared to fly em.
I maidened the newly outfitting 500e today and it took me a few hours and a couple drinks to calm down.
When my cc bill comes in this month, Im sure it wil take a few more drinks!

What body brand did you go with for this?
