Do I need the 600N boom pushrod for stretch?
Stretching my boom to 600 size on my 550. I liked how it improved (stretched tail) my Protos 500 so doing it on my 550. Just got the 600E boom and the pushrod is the same length as the 550! Damn. It looks like the 600N is much longer. I have cut 2 different push rods and used about 3 inches of a larger diameter brass tube. I then roughed up the rod lengths and used JB Weld to hold it all together. It was strong as hell. It was on a 500 though and I would hate to have my pushrod give while in flight. This is starting to look better all the time.

Let us know how you like it after the stretch. I recently crashed my 550. I ended up building it back to stock, but i was tempted to use some of my 600 spare parts and do a stretch. I jist didnt want to get something started that would end with me having to go 12s and having to buy new packs and motor and esc.... I tend to get carried away when i get started on things like that

The tail is def better with stretch. PITA for the push rod though. The 600N boom fits great and the 600E TT is perfect but I had to use a CF push rod. Mounting the tail servo on the boom makes a tail heavy setup even heavier so I left it mounted between the frames. I think I might have a gear mesh issue but it def holds better.
You will not need a 12S setup with the 553's, but you will need a high quality ESC. I went with a Kontronik 100LV. A 2400 HS with plenty of power.

I have a cc ice 100... Nah, Ill probably leave it alone. I love how it flies already and i cant blow the tail out with my current skills anyway. I do also have a 600 so when i want that bigger heli feel i can fly it. Right now i guess im only thinking bigger because ive been practicing autos and thats how i crashed my 550. I just want to make autos easier basically. Oh well, ill learn them with what ive got.

I can confirm the 550 flies great with the stretch. I did it a month ago bought a better esc (I had a good one tho but it was only a cc 100 standard so I upped to a scorp 150 which will do 6c upwards) I then put it in an Airwolf fuse. It flies fab. 600mm black carbon blades and running in 6c still the packs don't puff and the motor only just gets warm. Motor I'd 600mx btw do it you won't regret it
I'd rather be flying than typing |

So the 600n boom and TT plug and play to the 550 no modes needed? What about ESC? Want to stay 6s config along with stock motor. But is the stock ESC going to be a problem? would plan to run a much lower headspeed such as 2100ish.
thanks for the info in advance |
