View Full Version : mass confusion about TJPro or revmax

took the 600 out for maiden this morning. really the only hangup was the governor.

first, we're not even sure what it is. all the electronics for this bird came off a raptor 50 i traded for. word from the trader was "the machine was flown twice and it was too much power for me". and, i trust that statement. i know the guy...but, never seen him fly. so, i take him at his word. so, everything is nearly new and uncrashed.

the only thing he said about the gov is "it's a revmax".

but, the docs that were in the box say TJ Pro. and, when i took it to the field today a couple of the local gurus said "silver label is TJ; blue label is revmax". and, the label on this one is silver.

ok, so we proceed as if it is a TJ.

this is where i lose comprehension....both of the guys i was working with have set up multiple TJs and revmaxes on several different helis. and, they even fly the 9303 like i do...so, i trust they know what they're talking about. but, i wasnt following what they were doing as they were flying through menus adjusting this and that. suffice to say it should be working.

so, here's the issue: hop up into the air, flip into idleup and you can audibly hear the TJ take hold. but, as soon as you add some collective (any at all--big or small) it disengages. and, as you bring it back into hover you can hear it engage and disengage "weee---owwww-weeee-owwww-weeee-owww".

we did confirm the sensor is reading the magnet. everything is plugged in right.

one of the guys seemed to think we should proceed as if maybe it is a revmax in a different label. but, we still couldnt explain the thing disengaging.

another thought was that he thought some of the newer rev TJ Pros had to read a certain headspeed in addition to being set up right in the radio.

we messed with it for about 2 1/2 hours and never did get it working. finally we just spent about 2 tanks setting up the curves and bypassed the gov altogether. it is flying very smoothly with just curves. but, dang! what's up with the gov? anyone have any thoughts?

Is it in "Super Servo" mode ? I bet thats the culprit if you set everything on the radio correctly. Yes, silver label is a TJ Pro.

yes. this is one point i argued that i could never get my two helpers to listen on. there was even a bit of discussion about how framerate shouldnt matter to the servo (which i admit i wasnt fully following). but, in the end of all the things tried, i don't think they ever turned it off.

something to try next weekend when i have another go at it.

thanks.

A few things to check if you have not already.

1. throttle endpoints even, -100 +100 or more
2. 2 position stitch is used during calibration
3. throttle curve set from 0-100% when calibrating
4. trim down in lowest position
5. super servo mode off ?

Should the superservo mode be off even with the use of a highspeed servo such as the JR7102 ?

I'm running a JR9000S on mine, no super servo mode. When it was in super servo mode it was not happy.
