...Is it safe to use a 11.1v LiPo for this stock ESC/Brushed motor?
my 3300 Nmh pack gave up the ghost...I have a new 5000 mah nmh pack on order...

Nope. You will fry the ESC if it's not the VXL version.

Even 2S on the stock brushed motor is a bit much. Mine got so hot it melted the solder on the brush tabs.

Get a Castle SCT combo.....You won't regret it. ;)
