Yes I am just about at that stage to set it up>
Being my first heli to set up, this could be a challenge.
I have read the paperwork twice and it still does not make sense!
I have the 401 gyro with the s 9257 servo.
One connection goes to the rudder servo.
the single wire connection (yellow) goes to where?(I have the gear channel free)
I need towatch more videos on Gyro and DX7( no mention of AR6100).
Anyone has specific hints for this receiver?

OK that single yellow wire needs to go to the channel that you told the computer radio to look for it. Probably "Gear Channel"
Are you using a DX-7?
If so I believe the default is gear channel.
Set the gain to about 72% and that is a pretty good starting point for the gain.
Watch the DX-7 set-up vid, by Jermo, he covers it pretty good.
The 401 is easy to set-up, just follow the 401 video by Finless, and you will be fine.
There are no special tricks for that reciever, it is all in the radio programming.
Good luck,
Josh

thank you for that information
I have been watching both videos and am using them to set up.
The channel to use is definitely the gear channel confirmed by Jermo( it is the last one available !!!
So my AR6100 is used in the following way
AUX! - CCPM RH SIDE
GEAR - Gyro
RUDD - Tail rotor
ELEV -CCPM Back
AILE -CCPM LH SIDE
THRO - THROTTLE
BATT - NO CONNECTION
Now back to setup videos and then some more tinkering

you put the curse on me:)
I just thrashed the first main blades, trying to check the tracking.
not enough weight on the skids and it splattered the woodies.
just as well they weren't carbon blades, that would have made me cry.
I have no lights on the Gyro, but there seems to be some action from the gyro.
well try again , again , again. hopefully not crash too many times.
I think I plugged in the Gyro sensing the wrong way!(keep the wire in line with the signal wires !! on the receiver)
Maybe I get the lights to come on tonight!:)

If there is not a solid light on the Gyro, then it is not in heading hold mode.
It may not be the preferred method, but when I am tracking blades I have a friend hold the heli above his head, and after a 5 minute safety briefing of what to do and not to do. I crank it up with them holding the heli.
Blades are cheap, I cant even begin to tell you how many I have gone through.
Sorry about the blades though, I know it is nice when you can just pick her up to a hover and nothing goes wrong.
Later,
Josh

I BELIEVE I MAY HAVE THE GYRO SENSING CONNECTION BACK TO FRONT!!!!!
I better check that next!
Yes and I ordered a sixpack of woodies for the learning curve.
I won't install any carbons just yet.
Some of us old farts are slow learners, that's why we get extinct like the dinosaurs :) :( :)

There is no light at all at the gyro and it is connected correctly, the gyro channel is selected correctly.
I wont be able to check the performance of the Gyro ntil I get some more woodies(the prudent thing to do for a noob)
I can see myself wasting a forrest in no time, but hey I am keen to give it a go!
I wonder what is wrong with my blades ???:(:(
somehow they do not balance anymore (heh he he he silly noob got it wrong)
Well I think I may have learned a lesson. (DO NOT PLUG YOUR MOTOR IN UNLESS YOU WANT TO FLY)
