Today I was trying to fly with a fellow Freak who I thought might want to test fly my Razor. I PMed and TXTed him yesterday and this AM. I also left him a VM, he never replied. Anyway, in one of our PMs he said he would be at a field near a Boy Scout camp in the country today. So one of my buddies and I headed out there hoping to meet up with the Freak.
We could not find the guy but, we decided to fly over a large open field that looked like the one described in the PM. After a while a guy came up and asked us to leave. So, we packed up. Meanwhile, two more guys came up and said we were causing a safety situation because one of us was on a channel they use at their nearby RC club.
Now we scanned for operating RC radios before we started and found none. Also, we were up on a hill and would have seen any RC aircraft in the area. The club guys followed us all the way to the freeway. I guess they thought we would pick some other random field nearby and keep flying.
Ultimately, there was no harm done but, my buddy and I both thought the club guys should have invited us to fly there. That way they could have controlled our channel use and, maybe met some fellow hobbyist. Probably blank snobs.
