I've had 2 one-way bearings on my caliber 5 lock up (becoming a no-way bearing). I'm trying to learn autos so this is a big problem. I've noticed that it is a different bearing than the ones in the 30's. I've never had this problem with the 30s, so I put one of the one-way bearing from the 30 into the caliber 5. I did this a few days ago, and haven't had any problems since.
Any thougths? Anyone else have this problem?

I've done the same. I noticed the 30 one-way needle bearings are much fatter than the 50 one-way needle bearings. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.
The 30's one-way on the 50 started slipping after 5 gallons. That particular{30}one-way had over 120 hours flite time before it started slipping.

I had my oneway go bad and I replaced it with the Cal 30. It was only like 9 bucks alot less than the Cal 5. When I get some flying in I will let you know how it works out for me. Thanks Tom

My caliber 5's has a nasty clicking noise coming from what I have determined to be the one-way bearing. I'm not positive about the problem coming from the one-way bearing but I have rebuilt the tail, the boom, belt adjustment and just searching for that difficult to find sounds origination point. I have only suspected the one-way bearing after hearing about your difficulties with them. My question is did you notice any odd sounds before or when they failed on you? My distinct clicking is obvious during spool down with the motor off. I know however that the one-way bearing still functions properly when I run my drive belt back and forth over it? Any thoughts?
