Default Zero blade pitch

howdy folks

I'm running the Align DS610's servos along with the stock links to the swash as per the manual. The two links to the blade grips are longer out of the box than the manual resulting in + 4 degrees or so in positive pitch.

I tried to screw the links in but they're extremely tight to the point it feels the the rod will bust trough the plastic ball link. Can I just screw them in further?

Or do I unscrew the three servo links to raise the swash?

I noticed this when setting up the skookum 540, the vbar allows you to set 0 pitch through the software but not the Skooks.

What should I do 7hv experts?

Cheers

If you have positive pitch, you would shorten the swash to servo links. Are your servo horns at 90 degrees when trimmed for center?

You should have no trouble getting the two links above the swash to be the correct length from the manual, they are very stiff to turn.

Are you looking at the latest version of the manual. The older paper manual I have has a shorter length for the delrin swash to grip length than the newest downloadable manual

Look at the page with left to right tail settings, the new manual has a chart based on head speeds used. The older copy has only a single set of dimension

Don't do what I did and turn them down so tight that the delrin tube was damaged! If it gets too tight, just shorten the links from the servos to the swash.

Scott is right ...dont just continue to tighten down the link because it will damage the threads at some point. Use a known value for the links above and below the swash, as a starting point.

For me, the servo to swash link outside length was 70mm. The new manual says 75mm so somewhere between those two points should give you the adjustability that you need when doing the upper link adjustments.

The upper (swash to blade grip) link ended up being 57mm. The new manual has 54.

Measurements listed in the original manual are taken from different points on the link and are not as useful, and you cannot compare the two.

Adjust the upper link by twisting the lower part of the link. The upper part should be held secure with the bolt coming down from the fbl arm connector. This gave me plenty of room to adjust the blade pitch later in the setup.

Once you get static blade pitch to zero in setup your tracking will be very very close.

good luck

All good guys I over looked the servo to swash links length, must have been too tired.

Anyone using the Edge blades? If so they seem to need 3.5 spacers in the blade grips.

I am using Edge with 2mm spacers above and below blade.
The Spacers I am using were included with the blades.
I would prefer some 2mm plastic spacers if anyone knows a source please post up.

Yea I'm using the spacers the come with the edge blades but theres still plenty of play.

Even with stock blades there's a 2mm gap. Is it ok to flex the blade grips when tightening?

2mm is a bit much. Flexing the grips that far might bend them enough to lock the bearings in them where you would be unable to change them.

I'd lean toward finding the right spacers. I use the stock ones that came with my RailBlades and they are quite snug. I'm not sure if those spacers would also work with Edge Blades as I have not tried them on my 7HV yet.

The blade spacers are a pain in the butt for me to install.
I put my heli on the dining room table where the light was good so I could reinstall my blades and spacers.
I took a 2mm ball end hex driver to help align everything.
I got one rotor on, moved to the next and was having problems getting the spacers lined up.
I finally got them and snugged them equally. It seemed hard to get them both to feel the same,
I grabbed the head and headed out to fly. I flew one pack and I put my heli up on the cover over the bed of my truck and I see one of the damn spacers is about half sticking out from under the blade and almost hanging overvthe lower inside of the grip. I missed the hole completely . I can't believe it stayed between the blade and inside bottom of the blade holder grip

Are you using two of the 2mm thick spacers, one above and one below blade?
If you are using two 1mm spacers equaling 2mm total that is not enough.
You definitely do not want crush the grips at all.

Rail, Radix, Rotor-Tech and Edge all made by Funkey(each to they're own spec) and come out of the same factory. Some(maybe all) have same packaging and supplied with same set of spacers.

when i do the blades, i take a smaller then the hole hex wrench so i can lock the spacers from fumbling around as i get the wrench to drop part by part , havin it smaller then the whole makes so you dont have to be perfect to start , tehn you can twirl the wrench around moving the parts till they are lined up good to drop your screw in.

how much thinner are your blades then the stock kit blades????? there are spacers that were in teh bag with your mainblades. should be able to get that to fit , or make some spacers out of something.

DONT go bending your metal parts cause you dont have a 10 cent spacer man!!!!!!
