My EVO flies better than my Freya too. Or I should say I like it better. Were you at Seaview or Marine Park? I flew at Baisley today, the only EVO there was Wes G's.

So has any one had any of the problems with their hyper motors

yes i have had a lot of over heating problems with mine, :arggg:
and i cannot fine tune the motor
She always runs thick,I am trying to fix the problem with an
inside duct so the air flow of the fun goes strait to the head of the motor
I hope it helps :)

Hi guys
I have had overheating problem and I also fitted a duct which I have not noticed much difference.
I did discover that when the EVO was under load it had a tendancy of losing power, for example when I hover inverted and then pull out the EVO loses power in terms of revs it sims like the engine is over heating, I tried to tune the engine (OS 50 Hyper) and it overheats. :(
Just to let you know I have to make my own blends as there is no way to get ready mixed fuel in my country, I am currently using a mix of 18% Castor, 10% Nitro and the rest is methanol. What kind of blend would you recommed. :?:

Try using 15% nitro. OS engines like the higher nitro fuels, 10% is fine to use for sport flying but if your going to be flying hard and putting your heli under load then your engine could do with the extra nitro to help it produce the extra power while at the same time keeping it cooler.
A while back I changed from 15% to 30% and the difference is amazing, engine runs super cool, and has so much more power. More nitro really is a good thing (accept for the cost of it  ). :)
PS. OS engines are designed and made around 30% nitro fuel. :)

Thanks blakka_1
Another question for you what percentage of oil will I need with the 15% to 20%nitro.
Would synthetic be better than castor or a blend of both.
Thanks again

I would go with 18% synthetic oil. Castor oil is fine but it can get quite messy, synthetic oil leaves your heli a lot cleaner, overall it's just more heli friendly. :)
PS. with a higher nitro content (15% or 20%) your engine should run much happier and definatley much cooler. :)

Thanks blakka_1
I will make synthetic mix and when try it out, I will let you know
Thanks again

HI Guys
I am still having problems with the engine, I can keep it on the hover all day but as soon as I try to put it through the transition flight and it goes ok as soon as I do a banking turn or loop it tends to lose power, coming to the point when the engine nearly stops I have to land the evo wait a while for the engine to pickup power again
my heli setup has been done by following the advice I have recieved through the forum,
Hover 1600rpm, min pitch -4 to max +7
Idleup1 1700rpm, min pitch -5 to max +8
Idleup2 1850rpm min pitch -9 to max +9
In any of this modes the same thing happens,
I have used an OS 50 and OS 50 Hyper with 5, 10 15, and 20 nitro all running on 18% synthetic oil
On the mechanical side of the evo I do notice that on a simple left or right bank the blades tends to flap to much, my blades are SAB 600mm GRP symetricals.
Hope you can help me

I would say your motor is going lean. This could be a tank, clunk, fuel line problem or just needing to be richened up.
This is the best guess I can do over a forum. Good luck.

The Hyper 50 and 50SX are overcompressed, thats why they are touchy to tune and run hot. If you add another shim under the head it will be easier to tune and run cooler, you can run the needle valve a little leaner. It is better to modify the head but it requires a lathe to do it. I did a back to back test with a modified head vs a stock haed and the lower compression head went richer without changing the needle valve setting. DOUG
