I have 2 DN Power Lipos that I havent used for 6 weeks since the Trex crashed ... They were fully charged at room temperature and fine when I left them.

Today both are all puffed up, looks like they were inflated

WTF?

Arent they supposed to puff if you abuse them? They had both no more than 15 cycles and aleays stayed within 80% use and charged via cellpo..

What gives?

I do believe that is too long to leave lipos charged fully
You should have either discharged to 50% for storage or put them in a freezer

you need to contact your distributor on those batteries. Many battery manufacturers including DN had gotten bad lithium and therefore they will puff. Call whomever you baught the batteries from, they should take care of you. Keep us informed.

Time to buy some "good" lipo's!

"good "lipos will the same if you left them fully charged. Ancient 6 to 8c etech were inmune to that . As odieser says if you want to store fully, find a place for them in the freezer.

You don't want to put fully charged lipos in the fridge or freezer. As the temp goes down, the max safe voltage does down, so freezing them will effectively overcharge them. This why some chargers don't go to 4.2 volts per cell at low temps.

I too have read nothing good about storing lipo's in the freezer. I have also read that using them in cold weather kills them pretty fast and on the boat boards I belong to they are actually pre-heating the cells when the weather is cold and seeing a big difference in performance. Internal resistance is lower when the cells are warmer which increases runtime and power output.

I had four dn 2150's that puffed. They were bought last march. Sent all four back to xus hobby in june. All four were replaced at no charge. Dn has a website, email them first. The new ones are performing better.
