Building my 550 now; this is my first heli kit. Page three of the assembly manual shows the pinion orientation on the motor shaft with the gear going toward the motor, and the shoulder with the set scews away from the motor. When I set this up with the 7mm spacing shown in the manual, the motor shaft ends before the set screws begin!:confused: If I turn the pinion around (with the set screws closest to the motor), everything appears to line up well. Perhaps I'm making a sily newby mistake, or is the drawing in the manual wrong? Any clarification is welcome!

Well, if the map doesn't match the terrain, the map must be wrong. So, yes, install the pinion the way it matches the gear. By, the way, setting the pinion is a bit difficult. See "Finless" video. Good luck with your build.

The original motors the kits came with had a longer shaft, this is what the pic in the manual refers to.

The motors were then upgraded & these newer ones have a shorter shaft, so you need to put the pinion on the other way around now.
