View Full Version : Do you re-bind more than once?

I'm curious about people's binding habits. I've had my DX7 for awhile now and have noticed that if I re-bind after every little programming change I sometimes get weird behavior, including the rx not linking up with the tx. The manual recommends re-binding after programming to ensure true low/off throttle and failsafe positions, but other than that based on how the technology works I don't see any point in re-binding for other programming changes.
In fact, the last bunch of helis and planks I've setup have been bound once only, and they all work flawlessly.
I'd also like to hear from you Futaba users as to whether or not those systems work the same way.

Found I need to move the TX a couple feet away from the Heli when first turned on or the TX will swamp the reciever-and it acts like it lost the Bind---this info from the Horizon Repair Guys-

DX-7 ..... Other than failsafe information, no other settings pass to the RX during the binding procedure (that I am aware of). I have never had to re-bind. If you are having a recognition problem it could be as simple as you not having the throttle stick all the way down....or a throttle trim issue. If you adjust anything regarding throttle in the radio, I would suggest you re-bind.

With some gyros you have to rebind after setting any subtrim on the rudder channel. Like the 401.

Just was talking to Horizon and this question (from this post) popped into my head and I asked 'em. They said that once you bind the initial time, you should never have to rebind again unless you switch Tx's or whatnot. He didn't understand why some people were mentioning that they had to rebind after making setup adjustments.
Just thought I'd let ya guys know what I found out. I did my initial bind and since then, all my settings seem to take hold when I make adjustments.

The reason you rebind is to reset the initial outputs on the channels when powering up. Probably a plank guy who doesn't understand that gyros can be messed up by this.
And even Spektrum says you may need to rebind after you get throttle direction adn gear position set, so that when you power up, you don't get full throttle with the gear cycling.
It seems some people who did not rebind, would power up, and their gear would retract as the bound position was gear up, then it would come back down when the Rx linked with the Tx.
