I spent 4 months trying to fly my Blade CP and enough money to buy a Trex 450 and all the radio parts for it....then I got a Trex 600 for Christmas which I have crashed only once and just a month ago a Trex 450SE V2 now the Blade only collects dust on the shelf. I also understand your pain....

It was the same for me when the Trex450 FIRST came out. I was crashing it multiple times a day but was less scared of it (compared to my Raptor). After 6 monthsI actually SWORE OFF the 450 to after totaling up my costs (2-3 crashes a day compared to once a week with the Raptor). However... I flew Finless Bobs Rex 450 at IRCHA and was very surprised at how well it flew. This is a combination of confidence, increased pilot skill, and a better flying helicopter.
I still will not suggest a CP to a beginner. Learning on a 50 is cheaper in the long run IMO. BUT after you learn how to fly having a CP around to practice new moves on could be beneficial.

I said it is a piece of crap......and I can certainly fly it.
It is what it is:BSS
Lacks durability
Poor quality links caused many of the crashes--
esc glitches(from the 3in1) slammed it into the ground full neg pitch no warning BANG-at least 25 times-reproduced this condition on the bench .
tail motor failures constantly/ uncontrollable piros into the warehouse floor.
parts packaging is designed to suck your wallet dry after a crash-
THE GOOD PARTS!
1. the 370 eflite brushless-----very reliable(got 3 of em)
2.eflite 20 amp esc-------good also(got 3 3 .parts available(there's that parts packaging thing again)
4.The horizon service guys are great-can't blame them-they helped me thru some very baffling moments with the DX7.

I just wish E-Flight would not market it as a "biginners" heli.... because only an experanced pilot can fly the #@!! thing

Completely agree, the Horizon guys are top notch.

My first helicopter was a Blade CX2. It's probably the easiest helicopter I have ever flown. (Even my lady friend could fly it fairly easily). Then I got a Blade CP. I go easy with this heli. After about 2 months in my small garage and about 10 pairs of woodies, I can hover it fairly confidently. I have just recently grow a sac to try forward flights (now with the added confidence of crash proof blades, much obliged to Lithiumstatic.) I find that if the Blade CP is not rushed and you slowly acquaint yourself with its handling characteristics, it can be worthy addition to our beloved flying fleets. Or thats my opinion anyway...

Well, it gets your foot in the door. Most sane people won't drop $1200 on a toy helicopter when they don't even know if they are going to like the hobby. $219 for a CP got me in the door. I few upgrades made it flyable. It now sits on my shelf with a burned out tail motor. I've not much incentive to fix it.

We've got one, It fly's OK....even better when I had a GY-240 on it. Parts are too high though. $4.99 for ONE spindle shaft......geeeeezzzzz.
It's been for sale on Helifreak and RCGroups for a while now. If it doesn't sell soon I may put a scale body on it to just putz around with.

Similar story mate. But I bought a Twister CP, like a Blade CP. Crappy non-HH gyro, elec motor on the tail, brushed 370 main motor - Yuk!
Heli came RTF out of the box, and cost 400 bucks.
Spares and repairs cost another 600 bucks
And all because I thought I'd 'learn the ropes' on a cheap machine rather than risking my unbuilt Trex 450......Ha!
The money I sank into the Twister CP would have bought a lot of Trex repairs.
I did learn to hover it well, over some 13 hours of stick time and countless crashes.
Ah - the benefit of hindsight eh!

My Blade CP saw action too this weekend. The plastic head on my T-Rex 450SA broke up pretty badly on a crash this Saturday. The T-Rex is going to be grounded for a few days until I can make it over to the LHS. There's much to be said for owning multiple helicopters. :)

That's why I didn't stomp the lil Bugger last time I crashed it:rolling
Its definately not a beginners heli at all, I would say its harder to fly if anything.
The CP is fine as long as you aren't trying to make it fly like a Trex 450, It is what it is and it does that well, if you push it past its limits you will be buying many parts. And if you aren't pushing its limits and still crashing that much you need to spend more time on a sim, bottom line. The thing is light has decent power and is a hoot to pick up and fly on a whim. Its my great stress reliever after work to take this little bird out and buzz a couple of packs through it and my day is but a distant memory. It just does not have the same pucker factor I get when I have a 700 dollar Trex in the air.
It has its place in someones fleet, and that place is not the place of a 3D machine like a Trex. Thats like comparing the F1 2007 Ferrari Chassis to a Mazda Miata. Totally different classes but both fun to drive.
The only reason it is marketed as a beginner machine is due to its price, thats it.
**edit** oh and I burned 8 packs through my CP Pro yesterday:)

Been flying Helis since the 1970's
I know what the pro is and what it does..
it is not comparable to any GOOD Helicopter-it's is in it's own realm.
:badair::BSS
And by the way,
I put 30 more flights on the POC this week--:thumbdown:it still sux...
flying the 600-got parts-YAH BABY:mrgreen:
Your loss, Plenty of owners who say differently. In its price range its pretty much as good as it gets. You''re not going to find a belt drive ready to fly for 250 bucks or less.(*cough* I guess you can now *cough*) You say it sucks, but you also say its in its own realm, so what are you comparing it to? How about you just say....I don't like it, I think it would be more accurate. Then people would be less prone to argue with you. Unless you are one of those people who just likes to stir up conflict on boards.
I personally like mine, people say why spend money polishing a turd etc. But it has been a great learning tool, and an introduction to collective pitch heli's. More than that, it is challenging to fly, I guess too challenging for some.
Each to their own.

Well look at that, I stand corrected. They would have a blade killer on their hands if someone over there knew how to market it. That is actually an amazing price for such a machine. Whats the catch? getting parts? availability? There has to be a reason this thing hasnt flooded the 300 micro market. I have to order one just to try it out. If I fly one, it turns out to be better I will definately be singing a different tune.

Too each his own. I don't find it too challenging. I've just graduated to better birds and don't really prefer to fly it anymore.

My 10 year old learned to fly with a mini but likes flying the bcp more because of the extra fight times and cheaper crash cost. I've got a number of blade cp and cpp's and its a fun little rc heli. Those that complain about the expense of fixing a bcp after going in badly while inverted and praise a 450 or 600 size, haven't paid the bill of crashing the bigger heli the same way yet.
It is what it is, a fun time and alot less expensive than the same time spent doing paintball or keeping a dirt bike in shape and running or.....skiing, boating, car racing (things that pump adrenalin in similar amounts)
Taking on RC heli's and then complaining about the cost is an oxymoron. If you don't like a particular model, why put so much into it when there are so many other options available?
Those of us who've been flying since the early 70's usually know when to move on. With all that experience, most seasoned fliers would not get into micro's with an rtf el' cheapo unless it was to have a little light hearted fun or give the grand kids something to play with.
