Default 2nd flight! Piro out of control!

1st flight was ok! Uneventful one I got used to the crappy soft start (kick towards the end of the ramp up). My tail was drifting slightly so I increased my tail gain a bit. 2nd flight! I left off and the heli spins out of control and does not seem to respond to tail input. I even tried putting the rudder gain back to the default but the result was the same. Any ideas? Mechanically every thing seems fine and my rudder input is moving the tail blades in the right direction when tested on the ground.

Thanks!

my guess is the c gear is stripped. it is on the end of the tt near the tail. it is D shaped and can spin on the TT.

Yup that was it! Thanks! I know what part I now have to order a few of.

So back to my drifting tail. Even with the gain turned up my tail is drifting to the left. I was able to stop it with a fair amount of right trim but it was my understanding that you don't trim a gyro controlled surface.

Any ideas?

According to HH it's OK to use trim on this heli

If your gear stripped that quickly, check that the torque shaft is just sticking out of the front and rear gears, If it's not - push the boom in

That C gear not being fully seated will do it! It was the problem on mine & several others on here. As for your drift, mine had a clockwise drift to it. I gave (on my DX8) 5L subtrim on the rudder and it's rock solid. Obviously, you'll need to figure out what number is right for you.

Good info guys. Thanks! Some trim seems to have done the trick for my drifting tail. Next I am going to try a "normal mode" ramp up. Starting in idle up by releasing the throttle hold shows how much the soft start on this thing sorta stinks. I have to fight the collective until I have enough head speed to pop off the ground. I hope I can ramp it smoother by using the stick.

Wow.. I really like this thing.. No real problems here. I did a few piro flips and the tail blew out, but I learned to be "gentle" with the piro's and it's been pretty good. Haven't been able to tick tock real well, but I'm not that good at those anyway... so it's to be expected. I'm pretty happy with this thing so far..
